very excited to see what Schele Williams does with it. think it would really benefit from being toned down in a smaller house .
Its a hokey show but has a powerful score, and seeing Headley sing it was other worldly. Erivo would knock it out of the park, but I agree, is a rather predictable choice and would demand comparison to Headley.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
We just saw Erivo knock the roof off the Hollywood Bowl last Friday night (metaphorically— there’s no real roof on the bowl). The lady has astonishing vocal power, can sing anything in the Aida score without effort, and already embodies royalty in every move she makes. She’s got my vote for Aida hands down.
I don't see how anyone can have heard Erivo sing "Im Here" and not think she has the vocal power to do almost anything. Particularly live, the sheer power of her voice pins you to your seat. She'd absolutely crush the Aida score, if she wanted to (and not saying that necessarily makes her right for the role).

Gimme Sasha Allen. Where has she been?!"
No thanks. I'm a big fan of hers, but her attendance as the LP in the PIPPIN tour was horrendous.

The two main stars of the Netherlands production, which I think is now slated to be the premiere of the new Schele Williams-directed production (although she isn't mentioned in this article?), have been announced: Gaia Aikman as Aida and Naidjim Severina as Radames. There should be more announcements shortly.
