Patti Lupone is still outraged with Andrew Lloyd Webber for replacing her in SUNSET BOULEVARD with Glenn Close back in 1994, and had some choice words to say on NY1's "On Stage". Andrew Lloyd Webber didn't seem too happy with what she had to say about him, and his lawyer Bert Fields has warned her accusations are "provably false and libelous" - pressuring NY1 to take down the link to her rant.
Full story here: Pattil Lupone's opinion of Andrew Lloyd Webber
I mean, I've heard similar things about him from other people, so.........
Btw, I bet this gets taken down in like five minutes.

You are so obnoxious
Per LuPone:
He’s an unhappy man and an alcoholic.

I'm thinking the same thing, unfortunately.
Back to Lupone - she really needs to get past this. Sure it was awful and traumatic for her, and she's talked about it and written about it...but it's time to move on. (IMO)
How did she begin to talk about it? Was she asked a question regarding it? If so it’s not her fault for amswering a question.
Not sure how it came up (the link to the interview was taken down by NY1) but I think she would have been better off if she worded it :"In my opinion..." or "I truly believe...." so it wouldn't be libelous. He can't sue her for an opinion or a belief from her experience. She stated it as 'fact' which is very wrong.
I frankly am surprised it’s taken Webber’s legal team this long to respond to Patti, who has for the better part of two decades trashed him publicly pretty much add nauseam, calling him everything from an alcoholic to a bitter man to a woman hater. I always attributed Webber’s silence to the fact that he probably feels bad about the way the Sunset Boulevard situation went down, but truly enough is enough and LuPone needs to get over it or at the very least keep her tongue under control.
Patti, I love ya to pieces, but this is now 25 years old. Move on.
Also, as much as I'm sure this Sunset fiasco genuinely sucked for LuPone, one wonders where she would even be without ALW and Evita in the first place.
If this woman calls you "mentally unstable" it means she is projecting. She is mentally unstable, and not in touch with reality, she was paid a million dollars for not working. Any of us, would have put that in the bank, lived off the interest every month or maybe invest or buy a home and thank that man for the rest of our lives. She bought a freaking swimming pool and complained about it for 25 years, that's how much of a spoiled rich bitch she is. Try being unemployed and broke perhaps? (I'm actually employed and not broke before anyone says anything, but would love to have a million in the bank, especially for NOT working, that I don't have)
^A man calling a woman a bitch isn't ok. You might want to check yourself there.
Write a musical yourself you silly whining woman.
ALW is a world wide name[like him or not], you are know to a Broadway audience[still can't manage a sell-out] and to devoted scattered fans.
ALWs' music will long outlast your career so be grateful for what Evita did for you. Boulevard has always and will always have limited appeal to the masses, with or without you at the helm. Perhaps it was a good thing, career wise. you were paid 1 million to have a holiday.
An actors ego---yee gads![what did that girl screech over and over in Music Man?]
God, I love Patti LuPone.
Jesus Christ, what a mess of a thread.
I still think her ALW stories/asides are interesting, especially hearing her trash Evita.
i worship the woman and even i think she could probably get over this by now. she’s probably right about him but still

She should realise she won. She is Norma Desmond, I couldn't listen to any other, she had the melodrama that Desmond requires.
I'd pay everything I have to see her as Desmond and I bet a lot of people would.
I saw Close and was disappointed but I am looking forward to seeing Jones next month. As much as I thought Desmond could be played by an actress the role needs a belter. To clarify, I saw Close just after she put her back out in London so perhaps she wasn't at her best.

^^^^^.
I assume she was asked about Sunset, and that’s what bothers me. Anyone who knows about Patti (as an entertainment reporter from NY1 should) knows that she won’t back down from a question and is bound to say something outrageous. There’s no new information to be gleaned from these questions at this point, but there’s a good chance she’ll say something outrageous (which she did). It’s all, IMO, for the sound byte.
I felt the same way about her Trump rant at the Tonys, though. That Variety reporter probably didn’t quite expect what he got, but he had to know she wasn’t going to tiptoe around her hatred for 45. I thought that was also in the name of an almighty soundbyte and clicks.
Let the damn woman speak!!! It’s time for men to just stand back and be silent. Even if you’re ALW. And seriously, has he even been affected by what she has said??? It’s not like ALW is being falsely accused of murder. Also, how long has she been getting away with saying these things with ALW only acting now? You can’t pick and choose.
if you have any hate for this woman, move on and go discuss something else. You are not wanted here.
She was asked a question, and she answered it. When has LuPone ever danced around a question or refused to answer something? She's genuine- you'll always get an honest answer from her.
I'll take that over any number of other Broadway "stars" whose every statement is run through publicists and handlers, that it comes off as massively phony.
I'm with her.
the Patti haters are rampant. I saw Patti in SB, no one has been better IMO and yes, I saw the recent revival. And to those who are telling her "enough with the stories". She had a CONTRACT. He broke the contract so he had to pay her. It could have cost her her future but she went on and succeeded.
If you've done an ALW show you know that he does not write for humans. Whether it's CATS, Evita or JCS, you're never the same and with a lot of therapy can perform again (physical therapy not mental)

At Deconstructing Patti, she mentioned Broadway singers whose voices she found boring, and it really seemed like she was about to name names before either thinking better of it or just getting swept up in whatever her next song was. It would've come back to bite her in the ass, no doubt, but I did kind of want to hear specifics.
She was (probably) asked a question, and she answrred it. Yes, answer truthfully but also be responsible for what you're accusing somone of being. To publicly say anyone is 'an alcoholic', 'mentally unstable', etc. without facts is being irresponsible - and eventually there will be consequences. It may have taken ALW 25 years, but he's finally standing his ground. I'm sure he's had enough of this, and realizes she's never going to get over this. If she keeps it up, he may be the one with a new swimming pool - named after her.
