American Psycho has been rumored for the Belasco.
Isn't American Psycho going into a Schubert house? Either the Belasco or the Booth probably.

We all know about your financial situation because all you do everyday is talk about it incessantly. I'll let you know when I have another stupid question for you and the Mrs.

Have heard that NEWSIES may be coming back. Not sure if it'll be the tour a la HAIR or a separate production, but have heard whisperings that Disney is regretting closing it.

If Disney is bringing back one of their musicals, it needs to be Beauty and the Beast.
Add me to the camp that is surprised that they are waiting so long. I saw the headline and assumed they would shutter on the 27th of September, Flea Market day.
Also, can we please get a Spring Awakening transfer?! Pretty please!

That sounds like a rumor started on tumblr by a bitter Newsies fan-girl.
Obviously I'm not in a position to know for sure, but I'd be really surprised if that turns out to be true.

THIS. I don't want the Tony voting committee / nomination committee to forget this show. I think S.A. would be perfect for the Nederlander theatre if their current run at the Brooks Atkinson sells well.
"
I am not surprised. As I said in another thread weeks ago, it was pretty clear they would continue losing money until they were kicked to the curb.
I think taking this production out of NY and directly to target markets (the Bible Belt, deep south) will make it (yeah I'm gonna say it) one of the highest grossing tours of its season.
Also, I share the astonishment that it lasted this long. Its creator pumped all sorts of plasma into it, and took a HUGE hit. 25 percent sales do not a financial success make.

It is a shame another one had to close early. Glad to hear it will have a life in Branson, MO.

It has to become a financial success in its current incarnation first. There is no such thing as an emotional transfer.

Troika must be getting desperate. But if they can fit it into 4 trucks or less, and down the road cram it into every gymatorium in the South (like Color Purple did), it could end up being a money-maker.

I'm just happy this piece of crap isn't going to be polluting Broadway for much longer.

It's a real shame you feel this way. Sorry to disappoint you but a lot of us are going to love it when we see it before it closes and we will be able to say we saw it and it was a shame the critics had it in for the show because it wasn't that bad and we are happy it is being recorded and it will have an afterlife.
If Spring awakening actually has decent receipts in the next few weeks, I could see the Nederlanders trying to broker a deal to move Waitress into the Nederlander.
otherwise I see the theater going to Amelie.
Disney is not bringing Newsies back, it has a full restore schedule through the end of next season, and if anything Disney would wait another year and bring it back as a "revival", as it hasn't played in New York in three years. If Disney were to do anything it would be prep Hunchback, for a Newsies style engagement, positioning itself as the true underdog to Hamilton, just as Newsies was to Once. This also could be a ploy by Disney, to guarantee the Nederlanders event either Finding Neverland or an American in Paris, so that they can ensure that Frozen, has a premier house if it indeed comes next year. It would be a we fill your house for the summer so that you give us the house we want come winter. That is also the only way I see Newsies coming back as well. Do I think this is going to happen, no, but that is the only way/reason Disney will have anything to do with the Neaderlander.
This ^. This seems to always be the case for shows that have been sh*t on for their entire run and all of a sudden love is pouring over in its final weeks. I don't get it.
If you ask me... Spring Awakening can only downsize, unfortunately. They can not and will not transfer to a larger theater.
I'm sorry for those involved now out of a job, but I will certainly not miss this show with its condescension and racism. Who makes a musical involving slavery and asks the audience to sympathize with the slave owner?? And let's not even get into the fact that this was created by an entirely white creative team...
^ Kind of answered your own question at the end there.
SPRING AWAKENING isn't leaving the Brooks Atkinson, but I'm sure we can all expect an official announcement about AMELIE coming to the Nederlander with a spring opening.
I'm a little puzzled at the closing date, though.....
if they're gonna wait that long to close it, while not take advantage of the mid-western families that would eat that crapola up in November and December? It's like the producers are allergic to common sense.

UMMMM, If the Mid-West families didn't eat it up this summer, why would they go over Christmas???? They will too busy going to the RCMH Christmas crap.

But the closing is over a month away, which is just beyond me. It's only going to get more desolate out there with the Sept/Oct drought.
And I'd imagine Amelie/Bright Star taking the theatre.
I'd think Frozen would want a more central theatre. Like the Lunt.
$$ from several church-oriented donors kept this ridiculously embarrassing turkey open for several hugely-in-the-red months; those $$ would have served the world better by funding homeless shelters or soup kitchens. The show is cheap, stupid, reductive, sentimental, dull, and musically illiterate - the stage equivalent of a bad self-published romance novel.
I hope that poor Tom Hewitt gets into a hit next; when was the last time he originated a role in a success? Jeffrey?

Exactly my thoughts. Thanks for wording what I wanted to say about this garbage
