I'm so upset. I was supposed to see this July 10.

Ugh. Dammit. At least I'm seeing the show on June 4th.
Sad. One of the only shows of the season that I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
I'm very surprised they aren't sticking it out until Labor Day. The advance must have been very weak. Will definitely catch this again before it closes.
Nooooooo!!! I had tickets for June 24th. So disappointed.
Best of luck to cast and crew. They gave it all they had.

Also surprised..happy I got to see it once. Was planning on going back the week after closing... didn't think sales were that bad.

Wow. My third favorite show (of six) from last week's trip. I went Saturday matinee and it looked pretty close to sold out. I hope there is still a cast recording.
I certainly didn't love it as many here, but I was never bored, and constantly intriqued. I thought maybe they'd get through the summer.
Best of luck to all involved.
Isn't this the Gerald the theatre people were saying Dear Evan Hansen would go in? What if DEH pulls a Hamilton and opens in July?

Really surprised by this- guess there was no advance for June.
The grosses weren't exactly robust, but they didn't seem to be Tuck/Disaster/Amazing Grace level either.
Maybe they are closing earlier to help pay for a new cast recording. I hate the OLCR and can't listen to after seeing the far superior sounding cast on Broadway. Let's hope a new recording will be the silver lining to this situation.
Another fantastic, creative show gone far too soon. Sad.

First Tuck, now Psycho. Actually, first Disaster. These surprise announcements are stressing me out. Thankfully I already saw Tuck and I'm hopefully seeing American Psycho this weekend through rush.
Is it a problem of quality? Poor advertising/word of mouth? Are there just not enough theatregoers to go around? Surely that can't be the case if the most successful shows (Wicked, The Lion King, Book of Mormon, Hamilton, etc.) can all do well simultaneously.
I'm not surprised. The only surprising thing is that Bright Star has managed to outlast it. Actually, I'm kind of happy, because I was worried it would hang on until November, and then I'd be tempted to see it when I'm in NY, which would mean taking away a slot in my schedule from something else, and I hate making decisions like that.
To quote the show "THATS SUCH BULLSH*T!". But really its a shame. Loved the show.
I wish I could say I was surprised. The show has clearly exhausted its local audience and is not designed to draw in the tourists. Perhaps another year it might have been able to create buzz as the hot new thing- but we all know what's cornered that market this season.

Sad it's leaving. Wish it could have found its audience.

Bummer. This was by far my favorite show of the season.

This was the show that made me believe in theatre again. It was different, unusual, pushed boundaries and it was clear that everyone had put everything into it.
My favourite show of the past three years and yes, I have seen Hamilton. Such a shame. If you have the chance, go and see it.
Not to pour more salt on the wound, but the BWW article incorrectly states that it will play 81 performances, when it will actually only play 54.
