Hey all, ashamed to say Ive never been here before. Any advice on seating? Im sure it depends on the show, and I plan to see Six, Moby Dick, and 1776 here. If anyone has got recommendations, and any place to eat around the theatre thatd be great!

Six is at the Loeb. If you're going to be in the back - they do it by Zones and not Orchestra/Mezzanine/Etc, you should go up higher. There is no lift and you're basically an aisle away from the people in front of you and they are directly in front of you. They usually let you know those are obstructed views, but, at the Loeb, the higher you go, the better off you are, unless you're right down front.

They sell some side seats, usually, that are kind of like folding chairs. I actually enjoyed that seat because it wasn't crammed in with everyone else, but, you'll miss things on the side you sit.

The side seats are WAY off to the sides. More so than most other theatres. It's rare that I actually have to turn my head 90 degrees to see the stage, but, even the regular seats right up close on the side will have you turning your head to see anything. The seats branch way beyond the end of the stage.

It's a great venue. Gender-neutral bathrooms. The water isn't $90. There are a lot of chances to interact with the cast after the show. Everyone there is so friendly.

I'm looking forward to seeing Six. I'm curious. The Olivier performance didn't really do it for me, but I like the cast recording.

All those shows are at the Loeb, their mainstage house. Im not sure what the above poster is talking about. Ive never had a bad seat, nor felt crammed in. The only place i could see having to be a severe head turn from an extreme side, might be the very first row or two.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I think OneL99 was talking about the seats that are at stage height on the far sides up front for some productions, which I could see being less ideal. I would echo that the stage on average is fairly high. However, the venue can change significantly from show to show so it really depends. As far as food goes, a couple of my favorites are The Sinclair and Boston Burger Company for something more casual.

Unless you buy a subscription they are not on sale as of yet. However just google ART Boston and the website will show. From there you can find the event you want and purchase tickets! They may even have an option for you to get email updates for when tickets are on sale. Check out their site, it’s well done!

I was wandering around there today and ate at Felipe's Taqueria which I thought was quick and tasty. Several good chains nearby are B.Good and Shake Shack if you're into burgers instead.

Theres lots of places around Cambridge, all within easy walking distance, both casual and fancy. Like NY, most have their menus visable outside.

Mike: for me, the ART’s Loeb Drama Center has the most comfortable seating in the Boston area. Most shows there are set up like the current We Live in Cairo (you can take a look at seating charts for that show) with eight rows in front, a break, and then the rest of the seating.

I prefer to be behind the break because those are “permanent” seats; the ones in front of the break are on platforms that tend to spread vibration more - I’ve had restless neighbors in that area that have caused MY seat to bounce during the show.

That being said, the ART box office rep said that Moby Dick was going to be in a different seating configuration that wasn’t finalized yet, perhaps involving tables down front and possibly on-stage seating.

It’s a great place. The inner lobby usually has art work and interactive exhibits related to the show. The staff is incredibly friendly and flexible.

And it’s Harvard Square. The food options are as wide-ranging as you can imagine.

Yes, for MD, they def said a similar thing (about seating) to me. Possibilities include interactive and/or on stage seating. Or totally proscenium. Nice to know they were asking for preferences.

Saloniki is a small, local fast casual serving, fresh, modern Greek cuisine and is fantastic. It is located in the Harvard Information Center with access by walking through the HIC from Mass Ave or from the street @ 24 Dunster St.

I have sat in nearly every section at ART and have never had a bad seat, though I understand everyone has their preferences and certain shows have special configurations that I have not experienced. I don't recall an instance of having to do a "head turn" (even on side seats), but I am sure it might occur as others attest.

If you will be driving, you can park for free in the garage above PARK Restaurant with

purchase of Sunday brunch or dinner, Monday thru Wednesday. Even if you're not driving,

PARK is a good place to eat, too.

Never a bad seat at the Loeb. Oberon seating can be problematic sometimes.
Saloniki is terrific. But if you're in the mood for burgers and the like, eschew the chains and head to Charlie's Kitchen-- a neighborhood face for over 65 years.
