HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That may be the single most ridiculous mistake they have made on this website. And there have been so many to choose from. BWW News Desk fail.
Can't you at least spell the character's name right in the subject line, Jordan?

Hmmm i would think he'd be a better Marius. Ben Walker would be a good Enjolras but surprised they didn't go with a much bigger name.
Oh, come on. Who doesn't want to see "Lea Michele, The Film?"
Especially with this glittering cast being assembled.
Bummer! He's a fine actor but Enjolras he is not.

I'm excited about this casting because he's already done so much in the theatre world, but this really could be his big break in film.
Maybe they'll play up the Ho-Yay between Enjorlas and Grantaire?
That would be nice.

I hope he can still wear those butt-hugging pants he wore in WICKED...

Wow - and I say this as someone who has pretty much no opinion on Tveit whatsoever - I really didn't think there'd be this much unhappiness over this.
Phyllis, they could cast GOD in this movie and people online would still bitch about it.
I read the final paragraph as if the entire article was being dictated to Lea Michele by her assistant for her approval.
"Enjolras is a real tenor or baritone"
Well, which one!?

So Aaron Tveit is in Lea Michele?
Wow, I'm surprised to see this much disappointment! I'm a huge Aaron fan so I am obviously quite pleased. Enjolras is one of my favorite roles, and I, for one, think Aaron's voice will be perfect in it. It will be odd to be more attracted to Enjolras than Marius, though... Not that I'm complaining. Just glad to see such success for Aaron! Can't wait to hear about Eponine and Cosette, although this casting decision further proves that I have no idea what direction they are going in (all over the place).

Yes, all your definitive assumptions on what an actor can and cannot do are fantastic to read, and really encouraging to our industry shifting from narrow pigeon holes for actors and roles.
Is it really pigeonholing to say that an actor's voice and a character's voice are mismatched in terms of range, color, and style? If so, casting directors should really start taking vocal range requirements off of character descriptions in casting notices. No more pigeonholing! You might get Lea Michele showing up to audition for Enjolras, but at least no more pigeonholing...

Yes, it is. You have a preconceived idea of how a role should be sung and what key the songs should be in. They will be adapted for the person playing the role in a the film, which is an adaptation of the stage musical. I"m sure some of his material will be cut, modified, or changed entirely. He might even have new material to sing or new scenes to play.
The most important characteristics for Enjolras are that he is charismatic, persuasive, focused, and deeply passionate about his cause. He's the leader of a student revolt. He's not a superhero or General Patton. He can be played any number of ways to achieve that perception by the other characters in the story, as long as the audience believes that he can lead the students into revolt.

Well, I heard Sondheim screen-tested very well for the Bishop, so we'll find out.
I generally agree with you, best12bars, but my main qualm is that he'll look a lot younger than Eddie Redmayne. But we'll see!
I'm one of the few who thinks it's good news then, obviously. I didn't see it coming, but I'm really pleased they've gone for someone who's best known for his stage work. I know others have theatre backgrounds, but the majority of the world know Jackman as Wolverine not Curly!
Everyone has pre-concieved ideas of how roles should be played and he's not going to appeal to everyone, but you know, he's got the role so judge him when we've seen him. I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't directed an Oscar winning movie so I'm willing to give Tom Hooper's jusgement the benefit of the doubt with all the casting until I see the film.

I wouldn't mind but his crazy fans would bug the hell out me.
I bet they'll be sad that Enjolras doesn't have a shirtless/flip-flops scene.
To hell with shirtless, this calls for full frontal nudity. Or better yet, an added sex scene between him and Marius (They had to do something behind the barricade).
