I think Mirren, Moss, Mulligan, and Wilson are sure things. I could see the fifth spot going to Fleming, or maybe Rose Byrne.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

As usual I'm a little confused. Has anyone seen Renee Fleming perform yet (other than in operas?) Or is this one of those "let's see who is famous enough to win the Tony even if they're no good in their next play"?

Fleming performed in LIVING ON LOVE at Williamstown Theatre Festival last summer and received generally positive reviews.

I just checked the Tony committee rulings and it looks like ALL performers from YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU will be considered Featured (although Byrne's role really is the lead). My bad.

Don't necessarily rule out Geneva Carr.

Kad is right about Geneva Carr, but otherwise, solid list.

Geneva Carr's role felt more featured to me.

White's role is definitely featured.

She is on stage as much as Boyer, she's the co-lead.

Stage time and role categorization are not the same thing. I'll wait to see how the committee classifies her.

Sarah Stiles is undeniably featured, with a strong nomination chance, which in comparison will help Carr, whose role is substantially larger and more developed.

If the production petitions for Carr to be considered leading, I'll be interested to see what decision they make. I don't think it's open-and-shut, despite the points you make.

Ah, well, there we have it. If that doesn't mean she should win a Tony, I don't know what does!

Ummm she is FABULOUS! Plus I heard she was fantastic at Williamstown. Btw, you may not be aware of this, but opera singers are actors too. Your sarcasm is ignorant as hell

That's not what you asked. You asked if anyone had seen her performance. They have. But by all means, be snarky if that makes you feel better.

no Maggie Gyllenhaal? The two actresses who played the role before her actually won Tonys for the part

Oh, please people get a grip. I was not being snarky about Ms. Fleming's performance at all. I have a ticket for the show and am very excited to see it. And yes I'm aware that many opera singers are excellent actors as well and she is one of them. And my second post was in direct reference to "received generally positive reviews". For those of you with limited reading comprehension, most of us would not translate that phrase to "Tony winning worthiness". OK?
But that wasn't the point. I just think it's amusing when people start naming
Tony winners before they've even opened their show. But I'm sure many of you will staunchly defend that practice, along with predicting shows that will win the Tony even before anyone has seen a first preview. Go ahead. Carry on. I'll reserve my predictions to those I've actually seen perform the role they might be nominated for. Silly me.

No one said that Fleming was going to win the Tony. No one said "generally positive reviews" from an out-of-town tryout means you're gonna end up on that stage Tony night. That's selective (mis)reading on your part.
But is she a likely nominee? Most people would say yes. She's a hugely well-known performer, making her Broadway debut, in a play that opens right before the Tony nomination cut-off.
