Adam Pascal joining Pretty Woman... for one week?!?

I like Pascal... and Karl, and I still can't pull the trigger.

I imagine they are setting him up as a potential future replacement for when Karl leaves the production.

Now I have to see this. Agree, will Orfeh be in ?

It makes sense. Losing a start for a week in January could turn away people. It's easier to just have Adam step in and perhaps make one week's worth of Adam fans have a reason to see the show in a very lean month.

This has to be a dry-run for him to take over the role when Andy Karl's contract is up.

Observation said: "I'm not very savvy when it comes to how the industry works but is this a way to see how they perform in the show before offering them the full-time job as a replacement?"

That's one reason for doing it. It all depends on what the producers are willing to pay for –– some are ok with the expense of hiring/rehearsing a one-week replacement, others would just put the understudy on (Stephanie Torns in Waitress or Scott S in Great Comet).

A guess: Andy Karl could have an out or a filming commitment coming up, during which Pascal could also be contracted to take over.

Adam and Anthony Rapp had a show scheduled in San Francisco in January. About a week and a half ago I got an e-mail saying it would be rescheduled to April for "unforeseen scheduling reasons." I guess this is why!

I won't be in New York in January, but I think Adam will sound good singing the Bryan Adams songs.

I doubt any one seeing the show have any idea who the actors on stage are and could care less if one of them is out.
