PS- This is meant to be a negative thread. Rather a "catch it while it's around!" thing.

I refuse to believe that Chitty's going anywhere so fast. Then again, the house was deaaaaaad last night.

Posted: 8/20/05 at 5:11pmLight in the Piazza just announced they will be doing a tour of Southern California and Mexico so most of the OBC will be in Guadalajara for quite some time. This being the case, the Lincoln Center has decided not to allow the show to continue its run.

He's talking about you, not me.
I don't think Chitty will fold soon, Em. Too much money was put into it to close it this soon.

Posted: 8/20/05 at 5:13pmIt's not to late. If you get your visa stamped and ready you can see it once it finishes off in Mexico City. To the best of my knowledge that is the only city on the tour not already sold out. Southern California Equity also has no cancellation lines or refunds so there isn't a chance you'll be able to see it in the States. Sorry pal.

Posted: 8/20/05 at 5:17pmTheir boxo is likely to go down after the summer but could pick up again during Thanksgiving and Xmas time. It's a big theater to fill though...

Spelling Bee will be fine as long as they don't try to move it to a bigger space. I imagine that since a lot of the actors will cling to the project since it's been their first success and since some have been with it for years now. Actors in the Spelling Bee are really in a different show every night with so much audience participation, it probably makes them less eager to leave.
All Shook Up will probably close soon
as will Lennon.
Sweet Charity will close the day Appelgate's contract expires.
In the long run, I'd give Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a few months before they post a closing notice.

Posted: 8/20/05 at 5:57pmI would say Rent, but I'm really hoping the movie will make the box office explode! It would be SO nice to see those seats filled every night. A year or two ago, people were predicting Phantom would close. Now look at it, selling out nearly EVERY night because of the movie.

Oh boy some posters need a lesson on the FRAN & BARRY WEISSLER who produce CHARITY.
But I don't feel like giving another lesson tonight.
