And I don't think Lane got the "good jokes." He could just find a joke in Anne Frank's diary. He makes the jokes a hell of a lot funnier than they should be.

Absolutely 100% agree. He makes the show much funnier than it would be without him.

Just finished watching it. I've never heard Clandango so I don't have anything to compare it too. I sort of wish it was more upbeat, but I actually really liked it. I thought Bebe was fine, I don't understand why everyone thinks that she hates it. And I don't know why there are so many people coming to this thread just to bash it. If you don't like the show, then why are you wasting your time on a thread of a show you don't like? I'm not pointing anyone out, I just don't understand why they waste their time haha.

Because it's important to get the gamut of opinion/perspective? That's kind of like saying, why should critics write a review of something unless it's positive..

I saw the production in Chicago, but haven't seen it in New York yet. From what I can tell, I liked Clandango better. The show itself is by no means a work of art, but it's a fun show to sit down, relax and laugh during. The writing is pretty one dimensional, but it was still very entertaining. However, this is just from what I saw, I have no idea what changes have been made since then. For me, Krysta Rodriguez (sp?) was phenomenal and probably the person who stood out the most to me. I'm glad that she got this opportunity to hopefully become more known.

I actually liked it. I didn't love the show, I thought it was just okay. But I can see many people buying tickets seeing that performance.

Well that was...fun!

I don't like either song but if I had to chose I'd say that I personally think Clandango is better.
Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, RENT, Mamma Mia!, Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, Evita (with Julia Murney), Hairspray (with Paul Vogt), Peter and the Starcatchers (with Christian Borle), Lion King, Altar Boyz, Legally Blonde (with Lauren Zackrin).

Hm, after watching the video of Clandago, I sort of like that one better. It had more... pizzaz? (idk if anyone uses that word anymore, haha). I feel that the one they are using now is a better opener, but that this song had a better feel. Too bad they couldn't combine them or something.

If The Simpsons or Family Guy did a parody of an Addams musical, this is exactly how it would look like.

blaxx - that's so funny - I thought the same thing!!

I haven't seen the show, but I have to say that number didn't do a whole lot for me. First, it was, to me, just Lane and Neuwirth singing - not Gomez and Morticia. Second, how could that song POSSIBLY fit into a plot of any kind? Like a Simpsons parody, it was too self-referential to feel like it could fit in naturally...

Look at what all your catty comments about Bebe did! She made CBS take the video down from YouTube. You should be ashamed of yourselves!

I actually think it's odd that Bebe plays Morticia as more bubbly because she's kind of known for giving droll performances.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

My point exactly, MrMidwest. I believe the role would be funnier if played Lilith Crane-style but maybe that's what she's trying to avoid: being criticized as a one-note actress. I just think Morticia the character is best when played completely deadpan, which also provides a nice contrast to the fiery character of Gomez.
