The Arena Stage in Washington DC is performing Damn Yankees starting in December. Alice Ripley, Matt Bogart and Brad Oscar will star (Can't you just see Brad Oscar as the devil????) I already have my tickets.

Hmmm...a good question: Can Alice Ripley dance? You know, I don't recall her dancing much in anything I saw her in, but I suppose they could work around her limitations. What an incredible voice she has though, eh?

Damn, and this time it's somewhere that I don't have friends! I'm a huge Alice fan and was fortunate enough to be in Pittsburgh visiting friends while she was in Tommy and saw her opening night.

Plus, she's a doll at the stagedoor.

Alice Ripley is listed in the brochure I received from Arena, but I'm not sure it's a done deal. I like her, but can't picture her as Lola.

I'd LOVE to see Alice in this too...but some naysayers on ATC are saying "She's not doing it". Let's keep our fingers crossed that they are mistaken!!!

I LOVE Alice -- I don't know that I see her as a Lola, but she really can do ANYTHING. I'm sure she'll be wonderful. Besides, you've got to give her credit for trying tons of different things to continue to grow as a performer.

She was absolutely amazing as Amy in "Company" during the Sondheim Festival a few summers back. Love her! (Also love Matt and Brad...who, by the way, is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland!)

I received an email from Arena Stage, confirming that Alice Ripley would NOT be in the production due to a scheduling conflict.

I think if Alice Ripley is in Damn Yankees at Arena Stage she would more than likely play Gloria Thorpe and sing "Shoeless Joe" rather than play Lola.

Anything is possible though.

I am really disappointed that Alice will not be in the show, but am excited to see who they will bring in.

At least its not like "On the Record" when I bought tickets months before to ensure I could see Emily, and Emily alone.

KChenowethfan: Maybe that's easy for you to say, but I bought my tickets for Damn Yankees already! When I got my Arena Stage mailer and read that Alice was doing it, I bought tickets right away for my husband's birthday. (He has a schoolboyish crush on her, and he thinks I don't know! )

Oh well. Matt and Brad are great and maybe they will bring in someone interesting to replace her. Maybe Kerry Butler!!!
