Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

I figured out that I would be able to do this because GOD OF CARNAGE is only 90 minutes. Am I NUTS? And is this really possible?

SATURDAY, MAY 16
NORMAN CONQUESTS: TABLE MANNERS: 11:30AM
GOD OF CARNAGE: 2:00PM
NORMAN CONQUESTS: LIVING TOGETHER: 3:30PM
WAITING FOR GODOT: 8:00PM

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

If God of Carnage is 90 minutes, wouldn't that mean it would end at 3:30, when Living Together begins?

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

If I remember correctly, CARNAGE is even less than 90 minutes.

TABLE MANNERS and LIVING TOGETHER are absolutely fantastic.

I was not a fan of GODOT at all...but many love it. It's definitely a love it or hate it show/production.

GOD OF CARNAGE features a good but not great text; it's elevated by four stellar performances.

You can do it...but whether or not you'd want to is another question. That's a long day of theater...

If GoC started late you'd be screwed, and you'd have to book it out of there as soon as it ended but that could be really satisfying seeing that much theatre in one day. I'd say go for it as long as you don't have to get up the next morning!

Let us know how it works out!

Really? Is GODOT not as good as I have heard from friends? I have never seen a production of it and I am dying to see Bill Irwin in something!!

bfh2114 - did you have any problems getting from 50th to 45th then back to 50th? Did you run or just walk fast? Were you late to either of the shows?

Oh, Phyll. A day in my life wouldn't be complete without one of your ignorant insults. :)

No, you're not crazy seeing 4 shows in 1 day. Good for you!

2 years ago when I was in NYC, I saw 3 shows in 1 day - "Grey Gardens," "110 In The Shade" and Linda Eder at Feinstein's. When I go at Christmas, I'll squeeze in a Radio City Christmas Show, usually on a double performance day, as well.

Have fun!

You are going to be cutting it close between God of Carnage and Norman Conquests.

I say go for it, but logistically, I think you will be late for your third play and that may affect you being seated. It sounds like a great line up..you will need a drink at the end of that marathon....

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

I've been told that the 11:30 NC show runs longer than 2 1/2 hours so its not really feesable to schedule a 2:00 matinee...is this not true?

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

I was checking running times for Table Manners....it runs 2:20 with intermission. HOW can you make a 2pm curtain??? And I ask, since I would love to squeeze a third show in on a Saturday.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

Can this be done? I'm thinking about doing this type of day as well
I'm thinking
11:30: Table Manners
2PM: Irena's Vow (How long does the Q&A Take?)
3:30: Living Togeather
8PM: Round & Round or Hair

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

Once again, the timing will not work out. An 11:30 Norman gets out almost exactly at 2. So unless you're faster than a speeding bullet...

And a 2 p.m. matinee, with or without the Q&A, gets out at 3:30 on the dot.

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

Irena's Vow runs 90 minutes, then the Q&A. You'd never make a 3:30 performance, even one two blocks up.

CapnHook, I don't think your schedule works out timewise. You're bound to be late to two of the four shows on your list.

I say go for it! Enjoy yourself!

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

Would it work to do something like this
11:30AM: Table Manners
2PM:Irena's Vow (Or God of Carnage)
4ish(Something off bway)
8PM: Hair or Rock of ages

If that wouldn't work could you guys help me come up with a schedule to see as many shows as possible in one day.

re: Am I CRAZY to see FOUR SHOWS in ONE day??

it would work to do something like this if you dont mind running and maybe missing a few minutes of a show.

11:30: Table Manners
2PM: Irena's Vow/GOC
3:30: Living Togeather
8PM: Round & Round or Hair

what you can try to do at norman is for the second act's of Table Manners ask if you can use the standing room, when its over get out fast, run to IV/GOC whichever one you go to. might give you a slightly better chance rather then waiting for all of the rest of the audience to leave CITS
