It does not state it is a student lottery.
The $2 increase in a lotto ticket is fine by me, BECAUSE it is the first two rows (which is not always the best seat, but I prefer it strongly to boxes or last row in mezz!!)

It does say it's a Student Lottery, in the title, and here:
Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show a valid student ID to purchase tickets.

Wow, don't know how I missed that.
A student lotto? Interesting. Let's see how long that lasts.

Posted: 3/18/10 at 9:08pmYou could always photoshop an ID and get it laminated, no? (ie a cheap high school ID)

Those are great ideas, thanks! :)
Either way, I'm still surprised by the fact that it's students only.

Posted: 3/18/10 at 9:19pmYay for still having my grad school ID with no date of graduation on it. (I graduated 2 years ago)

CapnHook,
Just to clarify, it's not a $2 increase in student rush. Jujamcyn is the only Broadway theatre chain with a $2 facilities fee so instead of the $26.50 lottery rush at places like "In The Heights", "Rock of Ages", "Wicked", and "West Side Story" -- which is actually $25 to the show + the $1.50 facilities fee = $26.50 -- this one is $25 to the show + $2 facilities fee. The increase is on the theatre side. Sure, the show could have charged $24.50 and then the total price would still have been $26.50 like the others. But at such a steep discount already, no reason why the show should feel compelled to take $0.50 less to compensate for theatreowner greed.

"You could always photoshop an ID and get it laminated, no?"
That's what I did for my 3 years of Middle School, I finally got a real ID in High School.

To those of you 'disapponted': WHY? Were you hoping for rush or for general lotto?.
Honestly, I think lotto is more fair....and I always hate the student only discounts.

Posted: 3/18/10 at 11:58pmLotto is very fair, but I've never heard of a student only lotto before. It's especially odd given the age of many of Greenday's fans- not all of their fans are teens, in fact, I'd guess most of them AREN'T.

Adam, I am not sure that all of Green Day's fans are those who are no longer teens. I've often felt that they are either younger college age kids or people in their late twenties who followed the band from its inception while they were in high school and college. So, I do think that there are some fans who would fit into that category of the student only lotto.
I am glad though that it is not general rush. I say this, not because I don't have the time to sit in line, or get up and be at the theatre early on, it's that I don't live in the city. I live on Long Island. And, I would have nothing to really do between let's say ten in the morning till showtime at 8. And, LIRR fair adds up. I've spoken to a couple of friends of mine who can't do it either due to the fact that they have to work etc.

And yet what they have done here is make their lotto for students. How is that not a student only discount? You're kind of contradicting yourself with your statements.

I never said all, Winston. I said "many." Greenday was releasing albums in the 1990's, which would put many of their fans beyond the age of the traditional student. It just seems odd that they would shut out a good chunk of their fanbase, especially since the older fans are also the most loyal. I suspected this show would have a lottery (it just feels like a lotto type of show), I just didn't anticipate it being a student only one.

Posted: 3/19/10 at 8:54amI mean... yes, it's crappy that non-students don't have a cheap resource... but this policy ensures the lottery should have pretty high odds of winning, no?
