Amy Adams from American Idol as Narrator in Joseph Tour?

C'mon, was she REALLY the best person for the job? Is she REALLY going to sell tickets? Is she good? I dont even know her.

She was a good songer who left too early in the show last year. Is she really going to be the Narrator on the tour? She is pregnant right now.

That is what they are billing the show as

Patrick Cassidy as Joseph
and Amy Adams from American Idol as the Narrator in

I think she'll be great. She's not the one that they hired to bring in ticket sales; Patrick is. They attatch the AI name to bring in ticket sales.

Um, it's The Narrator in Joseph, let's not pretend she's taking over Blanche in 'Streetcar' or anything. All that part requires is a decent pop voice.

I was in the Dallas performances of last years "Joseph" tour in the youth chorus. I wish she had been in ours! But we had a really great narrator, the best theirs been...Monica Patton. She had an amazing voice. Anyone else seen her?

She would be pretty good. I can probably see this.

She went to my junior high school, and last year, came back and did a performance and question-and-answer thing with our choir. Nice girl.

I think the AI name would definately bring in at least some sales. I'm not sure how much, but it can't hurt.

I am so glad that she got this part. And yes, she will bring it ticket sales (mine atleast.) I saw her live on the Idols tour and she was one of the best performers of the bunch. She will be great...I loved her performance.

Did somebody say she was pregnant?

How is Patrick Cassidy going to sell tickets? He was never on a TV show - to most folk he's just David and Shaun's brother.

Who honestly thinks there's gonna be an issue with ticket sales? No matter who you have as Joseph and the Narrator, the title JOSEPH is the selling point. Even with unknowns, the widely familiar JOSEPH (and of course having a local children's chorus doesn't hurt either) seems to be popular anywhere.

I saw Patrick in Joseph several years ago with Debbie Gibson. He was ok....Joseph not that meaty of a role anyways. I did see him in the L.A. production of Aida as Radamse. He did well in that.

I was on this tour for 3 years and I am pissed about Amy Adams. We were doing just fine with "no names" and then all of the sudden we were told that Patrick Cassidy and Jodi Benson were coming in. And then the Osmond boys and then Deb Gibson.

Lots of people lost their jobs because of this and it is still a sore spot with me. We didn't need big names to sell our show. We were always sold out everywhere we went and our leads were fantastic. Once the "celebs" ("have-beens" if you ask me) came in, our quality went down because the producers were too busy kissing the celebs asses to pay attention to the show itself.
Amy Adams better be able to kick it out. Shame on the bway community for hiring mediocre perfomers that happen to have a name.

Just because you succeed on tv or in a lame show like american idol does not mean you have the training and ability to handle an 8 show week and do a show justice.

I hope that Amy does a good job. The show deserves a solid narrator.

Hey ya'll. I've known Amy for 7 years and have done a handful of shows with her in Bakersfield. She is an OUTSTANDING performer. AI wasn't her thing cause she doesn't have that "pop" sound, she's pure musical theatre. You'll fall in love with her just like I did. I hope you all go and see the show, it should be really good.

Di2...you are right, just because you are on American Idol doesn't mean you can do eight shows a week.

But just because you have a theatre degree doesn't mean you can either...

I'm sure they'll put her face on the poster along with Patrick Cassidy's name (he just loves these tours doesn't he) and that will sell tickets. People like the idea that they're seeing some that they "recognize."

It's very much a "oh, yeah...they're a celebrity so they're probably deserving and good" mentality. You just have to hope that they're good at what they do. I feel awful that it means that people will lose their jobs...but the reality is that theatre is a business. And touring is a very sensitive business.
