I got fliers in the mail today for An American in Paris and Dr Zhivago.
It's so hard to tell one show from the other!
Does anyone really care about either one?
Does anyone know what shows are taking the Palace and Broadway in the Fall cause there's no way eith one of these is gonna last !

Yes, because nothing screams the Russian Revolution like AN AMERICAN IN PARIS.
...and of course every time I think of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO I wind up humming "S'Wonderful"...
^ Then you're just kind of proving his point, no?
I swear I'm going to have to add a sarcasm disclaimer some of my posts.
That is so true.

Dr Zhivago is one of the most incredible shows I have ever seen. I saw it twice here in Sydney. The score is one of the most beautiful ever written.
American in Paris is the one I'm most excited about. Check out the responses from folks who saw the Théâtre du Châtelet performances.

That said I love this song from Zhivago:

Rukidding me - Dr Z, I am hyperventilating already, let me assure you.
Also, French TV news magazine report on Paris musicals featuring AIP and DOTV footage:

Eurotrash, thank-you for posting that video regarding AIP; makes me wish I understood french. What was the general gist? Positive or negative?
so excited for an american in paris! what's the buzz on it?
I remember Zhivago from years ago in La Jolla. I felt then that Lucy Simon's score was beautiful. If the book could be worked out as well it might be a wonderful musical.
No interest for American -- can't even tell you why! I have some interest in Zhivago, but it's not on the top of my list.
My two big musical hopes for the spring are: Fun Home and Something Rotten.

What is the discount code for An American in Paris?
Does anyone have the discount code that was located on the Dr Zhivago flyer? I lost mine. If someone could provide would be so grateful.
AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, another musical film to Broadway musical? I know the reviews in Paris were wonderful, but I'm waiting for the some in-town comments. DR. ZHIVAGO has been in workshop and such forever, it feels like disaster. With the exception of Lucy Simon (I'm a big fan of SECRET GARDEN), the cast and creatives do not excite me.

Well, unless they mess up the transfer, Fun Home is exquisite.
I would also being interested in the discount code for American in Paris. Surprised I haven't received one in the mail yet! Thanks in advance.
I think the Dr. Zhivago song sounds a lot like Ms Saigon. Yawn. Most epic books make
for bad musicals: Exodus, Gone with the Wind, Shogun the Musical.`
The exception of course is Les Miz. I saw Dr. Zhivago, the movie as a kid and I remember being terminally bored. This song does nothing for me.
Now I haven't seen it so I could be wrong but I bet I'm not.
