By the way, one of the best productions of Sweeney Todd I've ever seen was the East-West Players in Los Angeles. There is so much underused Asian talent out there.
I'm glad they're doing it!
... Miss Swan.

I'm glad Baayork is doing something beyond A CHORUS LINE. This production sounds more interesting than most of the others that have been done lately.

Posted: 4/11/13 at 1:04pmAll joking aside, it sounds like it'll be a great production, the creative team is tremendous. While I don't know if anything will be gained by an all Asian-American cast (as opposed to traditional casting), it provides an opportunity for some wonderful actors that would normally be passed up for this material.

Posted: 4/11/13 at 1:13pmI overheard a boy in Central Park talking about how he was in this, but he didn't look particularly Asian...

So now he's not Asian enough to be in this production?
There was a white person in the black version of STREETCAR. I don't think it has to be exclusively Asian.

Starring Christine Toy Johnson as Dolly
Produced by Baayork Lee
Directed by Lee Roy Reams
Musical Numbers staged by Randy Slovacek
Musical Director Kevin Farrell
I'm a big fan of Randy and Lee Roy. Should be fun.

#21An all-Asian version of
Posted: 4/11/13 at 1:53pmWell the concept of doing an ALL (insert any race here) production of any show is arguably racist. So this thread is right on track.

i agree Lizzy, Phyllis, Kad I wish i wouldve seen similar concern over all the Pope and Catholic bashing a couple of weeks back though i guess some anti-bashing is still PC and AOK to some

Apples and oranges, sue.
Last time I checked Catholicism wasn't a race.

Oh, Sue. Not all your wishes will be granted.
