I friggin love this woman!! I love that she mentioned Tunick! Especially since I mentioned his orchestrations earlier today in a thread! She is Broadways greatest actress and the first lady of musical theater.
OK I'm done =)

"I think my performance shocked some people because it was in opposition to everything else that was going on, but I thought it was terribly important to lighten the piece. If I hadn't gone that route and cut up as much as I did, I think it would have been more difficult for the audience to swallow. Sweeney Todd was the hardest work I've ever done, but also the most meaningful. "
- Perfect, Just Magnificent. This is why I love her.

Oh Angie. I thought The Harvey Girls was the most meaningful for you. The theme of waitresses vs. prostitutes resounded with so many people.
She'll be singing at the Dorothy Parker benefit? Hooray!
I'd love to see her join the Encores! cast for Follies, and take on either Broadway Baby or I'm Still Here.
Sounds like she will just be doing readings, not singing.
edit: My bad. She will be singing!
Such class this lady has. I've never heard a bad thing about her (not that I'd believe it!).
There's nothing bad to say.
I could tell you one or two stories about what a bitch she is; but I'd be making them up. I love her.

Bea Arthur said in her show that she has a mouth like a sailor, but she didn't elaborate. I think that makes me love her even more.
She is class personified.

Isn't she too old to play Carlotta?
I love that woman! It's also her birthday today! Happy Birthday Angela!
"Isn't she too old to play Carlotta?"
Carlotta was played by Polly Bergen in the recent revival, and I think she's just a couple of years yonger than Angela. Also, I believe Ann Miller was 112 when she played the role at the Papermill Playhouse.

The answer is Yes.

But Yvonne DeCarlo was much closer in age to Dorothy Collins and Alexis Smith.
Sh*t, we're talking about Angela POSSIBLY joining a CONCERT version of FOLLIES -- not a damn movie-version.
No one bitched/complained when a thick-boned Audra played Deena Jones along with a too old for Effie, Lilias for the Actor's Fund Benefit Concert of DREAMGIRLS!

I'd rather see Angie do "Broadway Baby". "I'm Still Here" doesnt really fit her. Oh hell I'd take either!!

I did. Audra's voice is too operatic for Deena. Her voice didn't fit in with the music.

I was at that concert. I get what you're saying about Audras voice but she pulled Deena just fine, especially when her and Effie fight at the end of Act I. She's got the acting chops.
Lilias annoyed me a little.

Audra was operatic...yeah I've heard that and plenty of people agree, including me. I still got a kick out of it. Um and as for her being "thick-boned" keep in mind she had just given birth a few months earlier and was prob still nursing. She wasn't THAT thick.
