Annie Marquee

Is this all they are doing for the marquee? It seems weird they did not use the billboard space above the Palace entrance like many other shows that played there did.

Posted: 8/31/12 at 12:06amI don't know why Broadwayworld is making a deal of it now. The Annie signs that they posted have been up for over a month already. The billboard used for the Palace had been rented to Evita, but now the producers of Annie want their spot back which is why Evita now has a new billboard in Times Square. I imagine the actual marquee will be going up soon.

Posted: 8/31/12 at 12:06amI thought it was odd, too. Maybe that will be added as it gets closer to October? (Though I admit that my days have been so thrown off that I was nearly shocked to realize September starts tomorrow...)

Posted: 8/31/12 at 12:08amHas there ever been a show at the Palace that did not use the marquee space above the entrance?

Posted: 8/31/12 at 12:29amYou guys are bitching about a theater marquee? Really?!!! Stop a minute and think about how ABSURD that is.

Don't worry folks, the ANNIE marquee isn't yet finished and we will be going back to take more pictures in a couple of weeks when their planned billboard is up too. It's just a quick peak at the first glimpse of what's up there now.

Posted: 8/31/12 at 12:00pmHas any production of 'Annie' not used the original logo? I really wish this revival had the balls to do something different.

^And that's why they always use the original logo.
Honestly, though, the original logo is iconic and they probably don't want to mess with success. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume this entire production was just one big front to sell Annie merchandise. What show puts merch on sale at the theatre and on the website this far from opening?

Remember when the Palace Marquee was the size of those 2 divided billboards?
The good ole days.
I'm still pissed PRISCILLA didn't put the giant shoe up there, that's why the show closed, ya know?

^Their website takes you to the Annie store which is already selling tons of merch on-line too.

Posted: 8/31/12 at 5:27pmWait... so they have the lobby of the Palace open and selling merchandise?
#21Annie Marquee
Posted: 8/31/12 at 5:43pmThey started selling tickets this week. AND merch.
#22Annie Marquee
Posted: 8/31/12 at 6:00pmBesides they never change the design of the logo anyway. It's always been the same.

Posted: 8/31/12 at 6:37pmLet's be honest. This isn't some revival that's trying to reinvent the wheel. It's just a money grabber.
