Any TORI AMOS news?

Sure hope not. Can't stand this pathetic excuse for a performer.

I remember ages ago when she first started making her mark in the music industry and everyone was remarking about her obvious (and I do mean obvious) Kate Bush influence in her work and she actually had the gall to say she never heard of Kate Bush nor knew her music.

Anyone who knows Kate Bush's music, especially her very early work, knows that this is what Tori is attempting to emulate. Tori is virtually carbon-copying Kate Bush in every aspect. Tori made such a boob of herself for denying this -- this soured her to many people, along with yours truly.

Tori has since changed her tune and now proudly announces that Kate Bush is a strong influence in her work, blah-blah-blah.

Too late now, Tori -- still hate you and your copy-cat work.

I actually think a Britney musical would be best if she did have some input. Just think, there'd be songs about twinkies and Taco Bell and Popov Vodka.

Tori has always been open about her musical infuences and sites Kate Bush as one of them.

To say that Amos is stealing from Bush is an obvious, uneducated assumption based on no real fact. Tori is her own performer. I can hear ALL of her influences. Tori often does covers of her favorite performers in her live show, and I believe, has covered Bush at least once.

Her new musical, that she is writing for The National Theatre in England, is still in its early stages.

I think Amos will make a fine musical theatre composer.

Seriously Brody, what's with the absolutes?

With the number of negative posts and the degree of their severity, I often wonder about how painful your childhood must have been. There are a lot of things I like that I willingly spend my time doing, but to spend so much time and energy on this site writing about things that you hate.... it's like I wanna have that scene with you in Goodwill Hunting where I just keep saying "it's not your fault" over and over until you break down crying and give me a hug.

Every musician is influenced by others, but Tori had definitely made her mark and her debut album is an amazing debut by any standard.

I love Tori, but doubt she has the right focus to create a cohesive stage piece without some talented collaborators.

I love Tori, and have for some time... but Spacedog... seriously? While what you are saying is true... if you didn't know the "backstory" to those albums you wouldn't be able to figure them out... I too think that Tori might have a problem telling a clear linear story with her music... it doesn't mean she can't... just her work thus far is not really of the focused linear sort...(with one or two exceptions...Winter being the one that sticks out).

She has the ability to tell stories alone with her music and I have no worry about her focus.

Frankly, I see her theme albums more as her telling us that the songs form a story than the songs themselves telling the story. The earlier albums, pre-wig and postcard gimmick, told more cohesive stories just by virtue of containing more focused songwriting. To me. It's almost like she needs to construct an elaborate theme for there to be a purpose, anymore.

Not to say I didn't enjoy any of these albums. I have. But, even viewing it from your point of view, I feel the stories she's telling are still too insular and unfocused to translate to a legitimate stage musical.

I definitely could be wrong. I do think with the right assistance (perhaps from the above mentioned playwright) she could contribute to something really amazing.

Man, I hope not. My ears hurt just thinking about it.
