from what i've heard they want the palace.
This isn't really a guess, buuuut ... The Broadway (where THE COLOR PURPOLE currently resides).
probabbly either ....Palace or Broadway Theater
from what i've heard they want the palace.
If they want such a large theatre, why are they trying out at the 5th Avenue in Seattle?
Broadway or Palace, yeah. ETA: Yes, because I was the fifth person to post that a show might someday go into the Palace, I am anti-Legally Blonde. LMAO. Time for HX to go on ignore. Updated On: 1/17/08 at 03:00 PM

young frank tried out there too and they got a bigger theatre.
but the broadway seems to be the most likely since blonde will probably get a boost through fall with the reality show.
I see Miss Amy Lynn Shapiro is again predicting doom for LEGALLY BLONDE.
Maybe she's just trying to pile up the bad karma for when the reviews get a stab at her lyrics.

No. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN tried out at the Paramount Theatre, which is significantly larger than the 5th Avenue.

sorry...i didnt mean young frankenstein. i meant the wedding singer which got the hirshfield. actually, that might be a good fit for shrek too.
I heard its looking to go into New Amsterdam Theatre because there is talk about poppins going. I know disney has so much money but Nemo is going to be coming up soon and i cant see nemo needing that big of a space.
According to the website I am seeing, the 5th Avenue is a 2000+ seat theatre.
http://www.5thavenue.org/about/rentingthetheater.aspx
And CryBaby tried out at La Jolla which only has about 500 seats and it is going into the Marquis which seats 1600.
I wanna go to Seattle bec. of that beautiful Oriental design 5th Ave Theater.....but not till 2009.. I hope they have a Broadway bound show by then....
I wanna see MAME too .. Damn! Seattle folks are SOO LUCKY !!! I wonder if were going to have a Boston-tryout next season....actually I heard..just gossip, okay? that the Colonial will have another try-out next year for a new musical.... I wonder what could that be?

Not the house space. The stage space is quite small at the 5th Avenue.

Disney has a 99 year lease on the New Amsterdam. There's no way they'd give it to Shrek.
>I heard its looking to go into New Amsterdam Theatre because there is talk about poppins going.<
This is absurd. The New Amsterdam is operated by Disney and houses their shows. Shrek is being produced by DreamWorks. As the film at least took some swipes at Disney, I don't see it being housed in a Disney controlled theatre. Nor is there much talk that I've heard of Poppins going.

I have heard that Shrek will have a very large physical production, and it doesn't sound like it will fit into the Hirschfeld.
The St. James?
stagescreen, I was just about to suggest the same thing... unfortunately I don't see Gypsy running that long... hopefully the St. James is still occupied by Gypsy at that time, but we'll see!
I think GYPSY is limited run too ? i could be wrong.. there was a thread about this...
Edit : no. per playbill its OPEN-ENDED

God, what planet are half of you on?
"Nemo will be coming up soon?"
^^ That's what I was thinking because Rent is closing.
So, just because Rent is closing that HAS to be the theatre it goes in.
Nobody said it HAS to go there- it was one persons suggestion! Calm down
