Its been over a year and I was wondering if anybody has had any updates on the progress of the film? I would think with "Cats' being a huge disaster might cancel "Sunset". Maybe if Paramount would allow Netflix to make it!!

They better not.
even though they are both ALW. They are soo different. Not sure why they even made cats.
I mean, if there were real news, you’d see it in the headlines on this very site. But this movie was never going to happen anytime soon whether Cats did well or not. This is one of those, like the Wicked movie, that we shouldn’t get excited about until the cameras are rolling.

If ALW was any eager to make it, he would have already pay for it himself. If he's in no hurry, I can't see why anyone else would.
Cats is a disaster because of Tom Hooper, a director who does not understand this artform on screen.
Sunset Boulevard could actually be wonderful with the right director.
Just because a director slaughters a complete project (twice), doesn't mean the genre is not popular anymore, even though it might not help for the general public opinion.

Like Streisand's GYPSY - all talk, no action. I understand Glenn's legacy with this role, but Streisand would make a better Norma Desmond, IMO. Of course, I'm biased.
If it were my money, I'd hire Danny Boyle or Sam Mendes to direct. I know Ashford was announced, but that was then, this is now..
I feel like a lot of the talk was happening when Glenn was on track to win and Oscar. Whether it was just hype trying to get her votes or real, it all ceased once she lost.
Damnit, Olivia Colman! It's her fault this film will never come to fruition now...
Hahaha
After Colman rightfully won, the project reverted back into the shadows where it belonged.
