Is anyone here seeing City Center's APPLAUSE!? I'm thinking about going and I'm wondering if I should go- are City Center's productions usually well done?

It's always fun, whether or not it's a good show.

You are seeing top talent and the reason that talent come to NYC to express it.

Always the social and theater event of the season.

Well, I wasn't "invited" to the dress rehearsal, but I did pay for my nosebleed ticket for closing night. Couldn't be more excited about seeing Erin Davie as Eve Harrington and seeing Kate Burton live for the first time, she's a legend.
I have seen two productions at City Center, FOLLIES and GYPSY. Both were top-notch productions that were better than most shows running on Broadway at the time. FOLLIES in particular felt like I was watching a once-in-a-lifetime event, it was THAT well-produced, well-cast, and well-directed. Ever since then I made the promise to go to at least one Encores! show per season in order to support them.

Can't wait. The Enocres! shows are usually the highlight of my theater season and to witness the professionalism on the stage with so little rehearsal time is just mind-blowing. I'm looking forward to seeing Ebersole, Davie, Cantone, and Burton share the stage.

I'm jealous.

I've never seen this show, but I've always been curious, as Tams-Witmark always had that wonderful picture of Lauren Bacall next to it. You know the one...

Have fun! Guess I'll have to wait a while longer to catch this one!

I agree - the artwork is cheesy and she does look like Diana.

Yup. I'm going to the Saturday matinee because I always enjoy the post-show discussion. Save for one or two, I've seen every Encores production from the past five years. Some are better than others, but it's almost always a blast. They seem to have hit their stride over the past two or three years, with great revivals of OF THEE I SING, FOLLIES, FACE THE MUSIC and PARDON MY ENGLISH, and the terrific original revue from last season, STAIRWAY TO PARADISE.
