I saw her tonight....and WOW. The woman is insane. Her voice is magical. Such a treat. Her acting is also fabulous. She is only going to get stronger and stronger in time.

The show, which for a while had been getting quite stale (bound to happen when your leads are played by Dee Ravioli and Erin Mackey), has really received a boost from Gonzalez. The energy this week has been much, much higher than I've seen recently.

I agree with what everybody has been saying. Mandy Gonzalez is insane in the show. Her vocal ability blows me away.

I saw her tonight. I thought this would be a case of someone being overhyped already. I as wrong. She ran onstage with a big smile on her face and won me over right away. Mandy's Elphaba at the beginning was very happy and quick to snap. She was missing some vulnerability. She got better with every scene. I never would have guessed this was her first week. She brings so much to the role and has her own unique take on it. Once she found Elphaba's vulnerability, her performance was nearly flawless. Like Katie, she brought out all aspects of the character. She really listens to the other actors and her reactions are great. She's very charismatic and her voice fills the theatre. She hit some jaw-dropping notes. Mandy's transformation from Elphaba to the "Wicked Witch of the West" was the best I've seen from anyone. She completely nailed it. It was very gradual, which is why it worked so well. She was always in the moment and I believed her very step of the way.

Also, Katie Rose Clarke has surpassed Kristin Chenoweth as my favorite Glinda. I believe with all my heart that she is the best Glinda has had thus far. Katie and Mandy are an incredible team.

Clarke is fine, but her voice is weak, and no one has come close to the depth that Chenoweth brought to the character. From the mannerisms, to the differentiating between the young and mature Glinda, to the star quality..no one has come anywhere near Chenoweth (Alli Mauzey has come the closest, though).

I think Katie brings MUCH more depth to the role and I don't think she's weak vocally. Her voice isn't as good as Kristin's, but everything else about her performance more than makes up for it. Katie is such a gifted actress and she brings so much more to Glinda than was written. When you compare body language, facial expressions, line deliveries, Katie comes out on top for me. Even some Glindas who I don't like as much as Kristin overall have brought more depth to the role than her. That was her weakness. Her strengths were her voice, comic timing, and charisma. You're entitled your your opinion, but my opinion still stands.

"(bound to happen when your leads are played by Dee Ravioli and Erin Mackey)"

Would you please stop with the childishness. You didn't like her we all GET IT. Just move on since she isn't with the show anymore, no need to constantly bash her.

That being said I agree with Elphaba3 on Katie Rose Clarke. I think she is one of the most gifted young actresses that truly understands the depths and layers of Glinda.

I also disagree with what everyone thinks of Mandy. I found her to be ok and nothing that people are saying she is. Vocals were good. Comedic timing was not good. Her Act 2 was a lot better than Act 1(which I found to be boring and couldn't wait for the face flash at the end of Defying Gravity). Her transformation from smiling geeky Elphaba in Act 2 to the Wicked Witch of the West in Act 2 was one of the best I have ever seen though. For me Defying Gravity and No Good Deed were her worst songs with For Good as one of my favorites, just heartbreaking and touching.

These are just my opinions of her and I'm not bashing her in any way. I think that within a few months she will be great.

Oh and Elphaba3 you should know that adamgreer only thinks his opinion is right and everyone elses is wrong.

It's funny that you say you found Defying Gravity and No Good Deed to be her worst points, everyone else seems to find those to be her two strongest songs. I agree with you on For Good.
