The show should have just ended... would love to hear reviews!
Received an intermission text that she is "unlike any other Elphaba before. Defying Gravity was thrilling. And she is having the time of her life."

I'd love to hear reviews as well. My mother and her friends are going tomorrow night (I'm completely jealous) and I will ask her how it is. Yet again, she always just says, "Oh, it was so good!" or "Oh, it was so bad!" But since it's Mandy Gonzalez, I'm sure it will be the first one. :)
Just left the show...on my blackberry and I will post more when I get home.
In short, as I told ljay in my text...thrilling. A completely new take on the character- plays it very geeky. Works incredibly.
Vocals were thrilling, especially the end of DG. Unlike anything I've heard before. Stunning.
And as I said, she is absolutely having the time of her life, you could tell from the moment she entered.
Easily the best full-time Elphaba they've had since Eden Espinosa.
You have no idea how happy this makes me. I can't wait to see her!
Yay. Thanks adamgreer! Thanks so nice to hear. Can't wait to read more reviews. I need to see her!
So glad to hear all the positive reviews! Can't wait to see her in a couple of weeks! :)
Just got home from the show-- In short, Mandy is a FREAK !!!!
Her vocals are ridiculous !!! Her "Wizard and I" and "Defying Gravity" are the best that I have heard, by far !!!
Best Elphaba I have seen as far as vocals- Her comic timimg needs a bit if work, but that will come. Agree with Adam.. plays it extremely geeky, and it works !! She is truly a force !
I'm seeing her Friday night. I can't wait to see her.

OMG! I knew she would be amazing! I want to see her soooo bad!
Sorry y'all, no talk yet of her "No Good Deed?" I've seen a lot of Elphabas in my day, and Mandy's "No Good Deed," that "Fiyero" literally made my jaw drop, so much so that I looked around to see what other people looked like, as if I wanted confirmation that I was hearing what I was hearing.
Loved her, loved everything about her. Loved her little cheering section in the middle of the orch. :)
I'll be there Thursday, April 1. Very excited to see her take on the role.
She was fabulous! Her DG and NGD were insane. I loved her take on the role and can't wait to see her again in a few months. Updated On: 3/23/10 at 11:29 PM
Agree... her "No Good Deed" was amazing as well !!!
Have to add too--- her natural beauty showed right thru all of the green !! :))
She makes a beautiful Elphaba !
I still cant stop thinking about her "DG"--- Just the beginning alone... The crowd was ready to explode !
How is her chemistry with Andy?
Now that I'm home, I can post a few more things...
She may have the best DG I've ever heard. The ending was absolutely off the walls insane. NGD and the Wiz and I were fabulous, but DG is by far her best number.
Her acting choices are very different, but they work. Aside from the geekiness that I already described, much of what she does in act 2 is very thoughtful and introspective. She also sings her quieter numbers, particularly I'm Not That Girl, with that same thoughtfulness. It's a fabulously different, gutsy performance. I can't wait to see her again.
As for the rest of the cast....I'm not going to say anything about Katie Rose Clarke, because it was very obvious she was quite sick tonight. Andy Karl looks too old to be playing Fiyero, but he's very good in the role, so it doesn't really matter. Rondi Reed remains a riot.
Their chemistry was good, and I think it will just get better.
I just love her take on the role. She plays it totally geeky and very wholesome, and it works.
Truly a reason to see the show again !! No wonder she was called "The Beast" by her "ITH" cast-
Her vocals are really fierce !
I'm so glad she's beloved. she totally deserves this.
<< She also sings her quieter numbers, particularly I'm Not That Girl, with that same thoughtfulness.>>
Noticed that as well---- also sings those songs in a lower key, which really shows off her vocal range, when you compare those songs with "Wizard and I" and "DG" !!

Actually, she doesn't sing any of the songs in a lower key. I'm Not That Girl is written in a much lower key. She sings it in the same key as every other Elphaba.
Katie is sick? Damn. She's the only reason I'm going on Friday. Though I am looking forward to seeing Mandy after hearing such raves about her performance.
First photo!!!! So excited for her.
