I know it didn't get a best musical nomination, but it did get 4 Tony nominations. I was sad that (other than for about a minute in the opening number) 9 to 5 didn't get a chance to perform, especially given the large amount of talent in the production. I would have personally much rather watched Megan, Stephanie, Marc, or even Allison sing than the cast of Guys & Dolls or Rock of Ages. I'm scared that a lack of awards and a performance will lead to it closing sooner rather than later.
9 to 5 is making money now and will likely continue to do so throughout the summer. I see it running at least through the end of the year.

I'm not sure. The 925 sequence in the opening number was horrendous! Maybe having Dolly sing with the cast wasn't such a good idea after all. This was the first time I have seen Dolly sing that I was completely underwhelmed. Was something going on off camera?
The opening number was mostly horrific in general from a technical point of view.
And I too, was unimpressed with the little blip they performed. Didn't miss not seeing more.
I think all they had to do was show Dolly and that was good enough to get people interested... hell some people probably think she is in the show
Considering every production number was screwed up by sound glitches, maybe they were saved...
Maybe its cause I'm an optimistic person...but I think "9 to 5" is going to do fine. They are most definently going to make till the end of the year and after that like someone else said the stunt casting is endless they could be around for years.
I think a good number of people absolutely think she's in the show, and they do nothing to discourage that when they advertise her image as prominently in their ads as the three women.
They should of had 9 to 5 and other shows from Broadway that didn't get nominated this year perform instead of those not so good tour performances they had.

Their little part wasn't the best but I really think that if they had gotten to do a whole number that it could of been pretty good. They would of probably had sound issues too but the show needed another fun number in addition to Hair. I think if they had done 9 to 5(full version) it would of come acroos well
I enjoyed the little blip 9 to 5 had in the opening number. One of the better parts, imo, and Dolly got great applause. The leading ladies and cast looked and sounded great. The camera work was awkward. But without the works and with so little time, how could one judge? I am sure that cast would have given us a much better performance than the touring shows they were shortchanged for.
Btw, I think any technical sound problems should be divorced from the performers, for any of the shows. As for the shot of Dolly when they announced best score, I was bewildered and thought it was very rude. I wasn't sure if was an accident or mean-spirited...
It would have done the show much better to have done a song from "9 to 5" and shown the book, choreography, sets, costuming and lighting awards than those lackluster touring numbers!
I've made my opinions clear on this and basically it's so wrong that JERSEY BOYS got to perform for the third time on a Tony telecast, LEGALLY BLONDE got to perform after the powers that be made such a big deal about NOT letting them perform the year they were nominated, and MAMMA MIA performed even though it has enough exposure what with the film and all but they wouldn't let the one non Best Musical-nominee that is still running perform a full-on number.
Very wrong.
^Completely agree.
I would've preferred to see 9 to 5 and any other musicals from this season perform rather than Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde, and Mamma Mia.
