I saw Norbert Leo Butz as the Emcee in the Cabaret tour.

Now a famous person yet but Alice Lee (a swing in SA) is from the subburb over from me and I saw her last year as Eponine in her hs production of Les Mis

I have seen John Lolyd Young in the Chosen and the Drawer Boy, Laura Benanti in Man of LaMancha and Jane Eyre, Kristin Chenoweth in Animal Crackers, and Max von Essen in My Fair Lady....I probably have seen more I just can't think of them off the top of my head...I live very close to the PaperMill Playhouse where I have seen all these wonderful broadway actors...My Aunt has been buying season tickets ever since I can remember...I have seen every show in that theater since 1992
Saw Paige Davis in the Beauty and the Beast national tour when I was pretty young. I saw in her bio for Sweet Charity that she'd done the tour, and I looked at my old program from it and sure enough there she was as Babette.
Sutton Foster going on as Sandy u/s in the Grease! national tour.
Marc Kudisch in Joseph...
And I was in the Evita chorus with Elizabeth Stanley and Autumn Hurlburt several years ago at Pioneer Theatre in Utah.
And in my first New York apartment building, Laura Benanti lived two doors down from me with two other roommates. Now she's a Tony winner (and a very deserved one)! Updated On: 8/2/08 at 05:57 PM
...ruprecht...perhaps some of us start threads that might have happenned a year or many years ago...but, I really don't want to have to start "researching" (I might not even get it right as what to put in search to bring it up) every time I come up with a thread I want to start. Just think: There are a lot of people here who are new, and have fresh input on these threads, so as far as they (and I) are concerned, this is news to us :) Can't we just be happy and join in the fun...? Again, we all have the option to choose the ones we answear Mr. BrodyFosse...as always, you are by far superior to all of us in bringing up those old threads...it is a service to all, because we can also look at the previous answears without "sweating it" (not that we are lazy, just the reasons I mentioned above)
I saw Cady Huffman in Big Rosemary, which was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I also saw Sutton Foster as an ensemble member in Les Miserables, and Hunter Foster in Grease and Footloose.
While all involved were already names, I saw Wicked in the first week of it's San Francisco tryout.
Not technically a star, but saw Spring Awakening's Remy Zaken in Lippa's A Little Princess during it's presumed (but ultimately canned) pre-Bway run.
Oh, and I saw Billy Ray Cyrus in Annie Get Your Gun as Frank Butler. Which does not at all fit these criteria but was to this day the most hilarious theatrical experience EVER.
Annaleigh Ashford as Kendra's understudy in the national tour of Wicked before her success in Legally Blonde and the Broadway production of Wicked... no not a star, but I'm young... I've got time to see some more
I spent a year living in London in the late 1980s and saw a number of actors who later became better known, but I lost my old programs. I know I saw Ralph Fiennes in a small role in The Man Who Came to Dinner. I also saw Brian Stokes Mitchell in Mail in Los Angeles.
I saw Jessica Grove (who isn't really a "star" yet but she is playing one of the Celestes in Sunday...) as Dorothy in a production of The Wizard of Oz at the Theatre at MSG about ten years ago.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.
Shirley MacLaine in the chorus of Rodgers and Hammerstein's ME AND JULIET
John Travolta and Ann Reinking in minor roles in OVER HERE Gwen Verdon in CAN-CAN Julie Andrews in THE BOY FRIEND Bea Arthur in THE THREEPENNY OPERA Maggie Smith in NEW FACES OF 1956 Carol Lawrence in ZIEGFELD FOLLIES James Earl Jones playing a butler in SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO William Shatner in THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG Diane Keaton and Melba Moore in HAIR Jill Clayburgh in PIPPIN Christopher Reeve in A MATTER OF GRAVITY Jason Alexander in THE RINK Marin Mazzie in BIG RIVER Jane Krakowski in STARLIGHT EXPRESS Faith Prince in JEROME ROBBINS' BROADWAY
Not really a star, but I saw Janet Dacal in the chorus of a regional production of URINETOWN in Miami between IN THE HEIGHTS's runs off-broadway and on broadway.
