Some random thoughts and notes:
Show started late, about 3:20, line didn’t move outside until 2:45. Mean Girls across the street was completely in before we reached the Neil Simon front door a few moments before 3:00. An usher said it was due to a technical glitch, she didn’t elaborate.
Incredible energy in the audience.
Didn’t recognize any celebs in the audience, but after the fashion show segment, SJB pointed into the audience and Bob was there. He got a very long SO, then was on stage during the post bows speeches.
SJB got an extended 2-3 minute SO on first appearance. Teal and Miceala also got SOs. I don’t recall if Jarrod got one or if so, it wasn’t the full house. About 6 or 7 other SOs following some numbers, including Ashley’s Dark Lady scene.
Not many off-book moments. SJB had to make a few comments — in character — to calm and sit the audience.
Micaela seemed close to tears at the end of the movie/Oscars sequence.
Happy to see my favorite chorus boys Charlie, Sam, and Chris one more time. Really one of the hottest ensembles on Broadway in my opinion (though Moulin Rouge is close...hello, Benjamin Rivera!)
Jason and Rick both spoke post bows. They both gave some hints that sort of maybe implied Cher would come on stage. She didn’t. Speeches lasted about 10 minutes. Rick in particular sounded very emotional recounting his involvement and experience. I was partially bummed about this, but as I’ve never been the most rabid Cher fan, it was ok.
A fire alarm or something kept beeping softly during the second half of Act 2. I thought it might have been a mic issue. Some audience members turned and looked but no one on stage or managing the house seemed concerned. Performance was never stopped.
Come out of the theater to thunder, lightning, and big rain storm. Dashed to a bar on 8th to wait it out and chat about the show.
Farewell, The Cher Show. Saw it twice and while a far from perfect show, I had a blast both times and came away quite entertained.
