Was I just smoking the really good stuff a few months ago or do I remember hearing that Roundabout was producing a revival of ANYTHING GOES w/ Reba?
Wasn't that supposed to happen this season?
I believe it was a rumor at the time; I haven't heard anything about it since. I would love for this to happen, but I'm not holding my breath...especially with Bye Bye Birdie on the way!
It's definitely NOT happening this season. Their Spring musical is most likely going to be iSondheim (or whatever it will be called).
According to people "in the know" who were posting at the time this was heavily rumored, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Donna Murphy were approached but both turned it down, not sure if Reba was a hopeful rumor or if she was actually considered (but seriously when is she coming back to Broadway?). I believe the revival has been scrapped or at least delayed.
I would love this.
She was to play Reno right?

BWW would be forever grateful.

I don't think Reba as Reno works. Reno needs to be a belter and Reba is not a belter. Reba needs to do either "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" or "Wildcat".
She'd be a delight as Molly Brown!

Did you see her in Annie Get Your Gun? She certainly proved she can belt.

"Did you see her in Annie Get Your Gun?"
Yes and she didn't belt on the level that "Blow Gabriel Blow" needs to be belted.
I could see her as Miss Mona in Whorehouse.
If she is able to lose her accent I would love to see her play Violet in 9to5.
McEntire has been approached with the possibility of doing THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (and THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN) numerous times.
She's not interested in either because she wants her next theatrical endeavor to be a project that's completely out of her comfort zone, which is why something like ANYTHING GOES is much more appealing to her.
I would be delighted if it were to happen. I agree that WHOREHOUSE would almost be too predictable, if still fantastic.
I think she would make a fantastic Reno Sweeney, and I think she could definitely sing the score. Just to think of her "I Get a Kick Out of You" makes me smile, and I think she could very well deliver a showstopping "Blow, Gabriel, Blow."
If she's looking to step out of her comfort zone, maybe Call Me Madam?

Next year's annual revival of GYPSY?
Well Reba was rumored to take over for Bernadette in GYPSY in '03 if it stayed open. I was so hoping that would happen because I think she's got what it takes to pull that off like we've never seen before.

I think Reba can belt at least as well as Chita Rivera did as Reno back in 2000 at Paper Mill.

Am I the only person that hated Anything Goes? I was in it a few years ago and it was just painful.

I've also heard the reason Reba turned down Whorehouse was she was afraid that she might loose fans over doing it...or something to that effect. However, that could just be third or fourth hand information, trickled down and diluted.

The production with Reba would be a New York production, not some backwater swamp in Joisey. (kidding!! I respect Paper Mill's productions and they are sometimes lightyears better than B'way. Follies being an example)
I stand by my original comment. While Reba is talented, she doesn't have the power for "Blow Gabriel Blow". There are several musicals that would be more suited for her talent. If she wants to do Cole Porter, then she would be more suited for "Can Can".
