I've only experienced booing in a Broadway theatre twice:

Anthony Newley in The Roar of the Greasepaint-The Smell of the Crowd (the 2nd time I saw it)

Elizabeth Taylor in The Little Foxes

Not sure why it happened either time as both performances were excellent!

Hey, my SN is muscle23ftl! Anyways, even if it happened, which by the actors you mention, it must have been a long time ago, I've never heard anyone booing at any theatre performace, and it was a joke. Just a joke.
