Is Ashlee Simpson Broadway Bound? The 21 year old singer has been offered the role of Roxie Hart in the U.S. and London casts of “Chicago,” according to Us. “She will probably choose London,” a source told the mag. “There is no confirmation at this time,” according to a rep for the musical.

LOL! Will she sing live or to a pre-recorded track and then do her little dance like on SNL?
I swear that any day now we will see Paris Hilton being cast in either this show, "Hairspray" or "The Wedding Singer". It's just a matter of time.
No, I doubt Ashlee or Paris would be on Broadway. Unfortunatly they make too much money to be on Broadway, I can't believe how anyone would buy any of those 2 CDs, in fact, I hesitated about posting this, because promoting those 2 women with no talent is kinda silly.

I fail to see the negative in that. Sure they make more money than they should, but if that keeps them off Broadway, then COOL
ZONEACE, you never answered me!
does anyone else see the irony in this thread
PLEASE tell me this is not true.
COOOOLkid - I'm with you!!!
I ask you, who out there is still paying attention to these people that we have to keep hearing about them?

Especially Paris...Guiness Book of World Record's Most Overrated Person in the World.
See, and when people say that the Weisslers make good decisions, I point to things like this.
Don't even TRY to tell me she's talented. This is about money and nothing else, and it's a sacrifice of quality in the name of money.

To put someone, who was caught on national tv singing 'live' with a pre-recorded track, into a Broadway show is ridiculous. Nothing says Chicago needs to close like this.
EW is all I have to say!
If this is true, let's just make sure she sings the Chicago score and NOT Cabaret's.
Let's all pretend for a moment she could sing, act, and dance. I know it's difficult, but try.
Isn't she too young for Roxie? Like way to young?
Luvliza, I thought the same exact thing.
Even if she was a talented Broadway actress, she is a bit too young. What is she, 20, 21?

yeah, she is too young
and btw, i would pick Paris over Ashlee ANY day... just felt like saying that bit of information :)

She's far too young to play Roxie. Granted, Bianca Marroquin is the youngest actress to play Roxie and was in her mid 20's when she first played her..... but Ashlee Simpson? She's younger than I am.
How could they possibly have her in the show, saying the line "Im older than I ever intended to be"? Talk about laughable (and I dont just mean her performance! lol)
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...

- UHH. Sally Bowles is on the same level as Roxie vocally. They both don't call for great singers. In the original Cabaret Sally ONLY had 3 songs. So Sally is far from difficult.
Anyway, this is disgusting (Simpson.) This is the biggest insult to Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse. The role was written for a 50 year old woman! Roxie is suppose to be over the hill!
Barry has said he would NEVER ask Paris Hilton, because he couldn't trust her on stage and with this role. But he can trust Simpson?

id rather entrust Paris with the role- she is much more professional than Ashlee, and Paris would make the role of Roxie much hotter
yeah
sorry guys, im addicted to Paris
please forgive me
:P
Hhahahaha this thread just made me laugh.
Ha...I just saw this on Eonline. While I do not mind Ashlee she shouldn't do Broadway. But then again if they can put Melanie G in the role I doubt Ashlee could be any worse. She could probably actually dance the part. Wasn't she accepted to a prestigous dance school? Swore I read that somewhere. It's not like she's playing Mamma Rose. It is Roxie....she is not suppose to have much talent as well. Good fit no? ha

I wasn't saying anything about Ashlee's "vocal talent." I was just joking around by referencing her SNL performance, and how she sang something different than what she was supposed to.

The biggest issue for me is age. Even if she could sing and dance and didn't make bile rise in my throat, she is about half the age of the character and barely looks her age as it is. If you're going to stunt cast, at least try and stay appropriate. This feels like some horrid practical joke, this can't possibly be for real.
I doubt doubt doubt it will happen, so I wouldn't worry too much.
