It also feels like a “step down” from the Off-Broadway production. That was a fully staged production, and this is a staged concert only a few months later at ridiculous prices.
I think this could still transfer to Broadway and do well, this was just a weird event.

Hmm. Two weeks out and 60-70% of the orchestra is still available.
The prices just seem so ridiculously high...
Yeah, I know it's a benefit but I selfishly wish I could've gotten one of the cheap seats...
This show is next week and most of the orchestra is still available. They’re gonna have to swallow their pride and lower those prices ASAP.

I had tickets to a canceled performance and just received a discount code via email. Ended up paying $100 each for two center orchestra seats! Excited to finally be able to experience this (albeit in a different way, but still excited)!

I'd upgrade from my $100 ticket if they made a good offer, but I'm not sure how fair that is to others who paid more. Tough call on management's end.
I have a single $50 seat in mezzanine row DD, and I'm no longer able to go. The ticket is Will Call, but I'm able to change the name with Classic Stage. $50 total, no fees. PM me if interested.

Oof...RIP to any and all discussions about a potential Broadway transfer.
I suppose there's a silver lining, though; there may not be as much demand as they thought, but at least they found out the easy way, while raising money for charity in the process.

Is a one-night only - poorly advertised benefit concert that is taking place the same night as another much larger benefit concert really the best litmus to test how much interest there is in a full-scale Broadway revival? I'm not saying there is enough interest; I'm just not sure that the selling power of this event really illustrates how much interest there would be.

Still some tickets (some cheap ones too!) available for tonight but the theatre looks like it will be very strongly filled.
That was a VERY special evening. As someone who missed it Off-Broadway due to Omicron, I am very grateful for this evening.
Doyle delivered beautiful pre and post show speeches. He mentioned how Company and ITW are playing right now, and said another Sondheim show is holding auditions this week. I assume he’s referring to Merrily? It seems much too early for Sweeney.
In his closing speech he mentioned it’s not important who is and isn’t nominated for a Tony, what’s important is that Theater is back and it needs to be supported. He also honored John Weidman who was in the audience. He closed his speech with Sondheim’s words, the cast singing a reprise of the finale.
There was no set or costumes, it was a concert. The cast was stunning. Doyle mentioned this was like an official closing night for the cast, much needed closure.
I was blown away by the band. The orchestrations sound much better live than on the cast album. It was also properly amplified, an issue I had with ITW yesterday. This score has honestly never sounded better.
The last 20 minutes of this show are chilling, just like the final scenes of the Company revival.
I wish I could’ve seen the full staging of this production, but I am very grateful for tonight’s experience.

Thank you for taking us there a bit. I count myself lucky I was able to see this in January before the outbreak among the cast. I'm elated for them all they got closure; it's much deserved. This production was ingenious.

I couldn’t have said it better, myself. Such a great evening and really nice to be able to be there for their “closing night”.

Such a special evening. I also missed this due to the Omicron cancelations and I'm so glad I went tonight. I had never seen this show before but I was able to follow along completely even though it was a true concert staging (complete with toy guns in lieu of more realistic props).
The entire cast was brilliant, but Ethan Slater's performance/transformation really shook me. Bravo.
What an incredible concert!
Will Swenson was the standout for me, but the entire cast was phenomenal, and the audience was superbly behaved, probably the best audience I've been in for awhile.

Didn’t see the concert, but I caught it off Broadway and adored it. I can understand a few choices not working for some, but I found the whole thing awesome. Certainly the strongest ensemble of singers tackling this score, and an all around brilliant acting ensemble. Tavi Gevinson is unsettling and works excellently with Judy Kuhn whose an absolute riot playing way against type. Andy Grotelueschen kills his monologues with the right balance of humor and rage, Wesley Taylor thrills and hits the high notes perfectly, Adam Chanler-Berat shocks as the slimiest Hinckley I’ve ever seen, Eddie Cooper has a wonderfully wicked charm, and Brandon Uranowitz brings the right tension but plays his role so sensitively he tricks you into forgetting his crimes.
The MVPs for me were Steven Pasquale, Will Swenson, and Ethan Slater. Pasquale is in perfect voice and brilliantly plays Booth with more whimsy and comical immaturity than usual, it gives him the correct descriptive charisma, but makes him an unmistakably psychopathic manchild. Swenson was so clearly having a total ball, he’s hilarious but scares when necessary. A lucky audience member near me got a flirty look from him right before he pranced after the stage to ecstatic applause after his big number. Slater never left the stage and was winsome in his idealistic turn before playing the climax was a riveting horror and finally resolve.
