Gutting, but not surprising.
Way to go Ave Q, for a superb run!

Had a great run, and will never forget that fist time I saw it right after it opened, listening to and joining with the audience who roared after every number.

No reason to be sad or angry about this one. Amazing stuff. It should continue to do very well on the regional circuit as well.
I must admit I'm a bit excited that one of Broadway's smallest houses will be open to new shows again. It allows producers to take more risks.

Is Carey Anderson still in it? If so, is she staying until the end? If not, anyone know what she's doing next?

It will not be extended. I believe the theatre is booked already for fall and spring.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

I hope it extends
Sad to see this 1 go.
Are they holding tickets back for the final show. I just looked online and the best it gave me was Row G left mezz which is the back of the mezz, It was only announced this morning an offical closing. When will better tix open up/Will better/more tickets open up? I remember with SA's closing tix's popped up like 2 weeks before and even when it was "SOLD OUT" more tix became available.

I'm glad I finally got to see this last Sunday for my birthday. It was very enjoyable. And I don't know the details of when people are coming to close the show or what characters they play, but Carey Anderson is still in the show, as of right now.

Had a fantastic run. But it's time for it to go.

- I couldn't see August once more before it closed and despite the fact that the tour is coming to Boston, I think I need to see Avenue Q once more on Broadway. I hope it goes out with a giant roar!

Could they possible extend thru the end of the year? It seems silly to have a dark theater for the holiday season.

A show is booking it for the Fall as a limited run, and then another show will open in the Spring.

Bought my tickets for the closing. I have actually never seen this show yet. I really don't know why as I have tried the lotto etc. But, I'm happy that they had such a great run!

Here's hoping they'll film the final cast!

After coming to BWW for over a year waiting to see this news on the front page, I am strangely ok. It is absolutely my favorite musical of all time, the second show I ever saw, and the only show I can comfortably sit through more than 3 times without getting bored.
But I went back and rewatched Broadway: The American Musical and listened to all those people talk about how Avenue Q would barely make it through Winter 2003, it was pretty awesome.

We all knew this day would come. If this happened in 2005, I think I would have had a heart attack. Still, six years is a very long and healthy run and I wish it the best for its legacy. Maybe a movie version, maybe a television show, at least something to let these characters live on. The fact that Marx and Lopez seemed to have drifted apart makes chances of these possibilities very slim. (Marx seems to be the only one who wants to even be associated with the show) As an above poster said, a filming of the show would be a great way to encapsulate it so we don't have to relive it through terrible community productions with off-model versions of the puppets.
Just please, please don't let it sink as low as Hairspray has with its new "cruise ship" version. (seriously, the rights became THAT dirt cheap for the show?)

I'm just asking a question
B/c I would like to be their closing night and would prefer to not sit in ROW G of the mezz if possible
I'm just waiting for good seats to pop up
