Interesting. I'm curious to know if the cast is moving with the show. Sort of sucks for them to take a big money cut, but whatever, it's a job in a good show.

re: Avenue Q at New World Stages next month?

This is great news indeed. As much as I wanted to, I never got around to seeing it before it closed and was upset that I missed my final chance to see it. Had I still been in school the same place that I was last year, I would have been able to catch the non equity tour in New London. However, I am even happier to find out that I can still see it in New York. Also, considering the fact that there has been a very successful Broadway production of the show, the fact that the show is still playing in London a very successful equity tour and a not so successful Vegas production, it seems that the producers have enough money to take a risk on an off Broadway production of the show.

I think that the producers (as someone else said earlier in the thread) still feel like there is an audience for the show. However, not enough of one to fill a Broadway house. I am very excited for this and can't wait to see it off Broadway. I must confess, that when I saw the article I had to do a double take due to having trouble believing it.

It wouldn't come as a shock to the system if they offered the current cast the chance to do their same roles when the show moves as well.

It's gonna be in Stage 3.
I just looked on the Avenue Q website and it says they will have rush tickets for $26.50
Sounds like It'll be front row b/c I looked for a random date in November and best I could get was 2nd row.

Can we just celebrate the fact that the show will continue to have life without talking ticket prices?

The fact that the cast on the new website is listed as "coming soon" leads me to believe that there may be some changes (since everything else is there already.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

A show closing is never good news, not even BKLYN.

Are performer salaries that different from Broadway to Off?

Hmm, let's see, she could replace a lead in a long-running show, be featured ensemble/understudy in a huge musical, or maybe do some off-Broadway work.

Or she could tour with 9 to 5 - I'm sure they're going to need a Roz or a Violet.

Ave. Q?

The 9to5 tour doesn't start for another year.

Doesn't she have a really young kid at home? I bet if she were offered to stay in NY or Tour she would stay in New York.

So, what exactly would the term for this be? It's not a revival, it's not really a return engagement...what is it?

I also think the creatives are looking heavily at the Non-Eq tour. They have been at a bunch of their rehearsals lately according to Ashley Buckman.

From her Twitter:

Jeff Marx showed up today. All of the creative team is thrilled with the show. Flying out of NYC tomorrow to glue pieces together with tech

This is wonderful news! The Golden has about 800 seats, and Stage 3 at New World has 499. Even if they don't fill that house to complete capacity, the weekly running costs are going to be so much less. They'll do great there.

Do they have to scale back the set? And is that the same theater as Rooms?

I wish they would open [title of show] there. Then it would be such a great place to see an Off-Broadway show.

"Do they have to scale back the set?"

From the looks of it they would have to scale up. The NWS theaters are wider and I think have a bigger stage.
