Posted: 7/3/04 at 8:49pmi just got back from this damn show and im pissed!! thank god i didnt pay the bill. i understand this show well and its very creative and the idea is clever but who in their right mind can honestly say that it was the best musical of the season??? Who can say the music is better than WICKED? Im mostly pissed because Stephen Schwartz has been in this business since the 70s and has not won a single tony award for all his music. jesus ****ing christ!

Of course you mean "Who could say this music is better than Caroline or Change's music?" Because that show deserved best score.

Posted: 7/3/04 at 8:53pmI concur BroadwayGirl. Avenue Q was cute and original and all, but Jeanine Tesori totally deserved that award, not that I think that was ever a possibility. Hell, I would've even been happy with Taboo over Avenue Q. That's not to say I didn't like it, I loved it, especially from the front row, but I felt there were other shows just as original this past season.

Am I seeing the same Wicked as everyone else? I think Q was worlds better (my dissertation on Wicked will come in another post...).
I love your post, J. "This was a clever, creative show and it had no right to win an award over someone who's done this before."
There's your decline of new material and concepts right there, New York.
