One of the best productions of any show in the last few years, IMO. I hope it transfers. But doubt it will. Blanchett must be busy with upcoming movies and whatnot, no?
Does anyone actually think it will? Maybe for like a strictly limited few months? I mean, if it does, we know she will win any and every award possible. I guess it depends on how badly she wants a Tony.
Their reason for bringing it to Broadway would be if it were profitable for the company. If they bring it to Broadway for a limited engagement, it will sell out just like BAM's run and turn a profit for them. I think it's a good idea, financially. Not to mention a good idea in terms of another audience that would get to see this production.
I hope the scheduling conflicts and Equity issues that are sure to ensue can be worked out to get this production to Broadway. I kick myself everyday for not getting those $35 tickets when I had the chance.
I'm not holding my breath, but I really want this to happen. I can't believe I'm missing what promises to be one of the most talked about performances in a classic American play for a while by one of the best actresses alive. Everyone keep their fingers crossed.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
It would probably have to be arranged to be done in the months Cate has off from being AD to do films. Also, she couldn't do six months (like is stated as required in the first article) starting Summer 2010, because she's doing Uncle Vanya in Sydney opening November 2010. It seems like it would be too much to organise while she is AD of the STC.
