FIRST IN THE BRIEFING: New York City Center announced that due to popular demand, it will be making a cast recording of its Fall Gala Presentation of Bat Boy: The Musical, written by Keythe Farley, Brian Flemming, and Laurence O'Keefe, and directed by Alex Timbers. The album will be released by Sh-K-Boom and Yellow SoundLabel, with a release date TBD.

That production was a rarity: a much anticipated new look at an older show that delivered. It was charming and perfectly scaled to Encores! specifications. Just ambitious ... enough. With a glorious performance by Kerry Butler, moving up a notch in the hierarchy of female roles in the show.

Does this really have its sights set on Broadway via ATG? Feels like a passion project with no real Popular Demand, but hey it’s not my money.

This is exciting, though i really can't stand the rewrites. so many of the new lyrics feel forced
