I have been going to the flea market for many years. It was fine today, but I thought it was odd that the music man table didn't have any merchandise from the show. I was there until about 12:30. Did they put anything out later on? I did see the signed jackets but not signed playbills or posters.. I see that Sutton Foster was there for a time. Did she take photos with fans?
Thanks for any intel.

I’ve seen some pics of Sutton with people. Unsure if she just took them or requested a donation beforehand as I think I left before she was there.

I wasn’t able to attend yesterday, but saw Phantom was selling bow ties worn by the Phantom. Does anyone know how much they were selling for? And I know this is a long shot, but if anyone happens to have an extra they’d be willing to sell, please PM me, I’d be incredibly grateful!

I've never been physically shoved out of the way so many times in my life. Just pure Black Friday behavior at some of those tables.
I think the combination of Rosh Hashanah and the iffy weather made the in-person turnout lower, which was a good thing considering the scaffolding made it really hard to get close to a lot of the tables (and created the pushing and shoving issue -- which, believe it or not, was much much better than usual).
The auction prices seemed as high as usual, except that a lot more items were won by people on the phone or the Internet. And anything to do with Phantom or Sondheim went for crazy prices. Two people paid $13,000 each for a replica of the monkey music box signed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but I don't think it was the actual prop used in the show because it seemed much too small. The description didn't say it was an actual prop.
I'm curious - how much were the Rent original cast playbills?
In terms of the Phantom bow ties, I'm not sure they were worn by the actual Phantom, just by someone in the show. They also had some shirts, I think, but I think they also were worn by someone in the show but not necessarily the Phantom. I don't know how much they wanted for either the shirts or the bow ties.

Sorry to hear that. It must have calmed down a lot because I had a pretty chill experience aside from occasionally getting blocked. There's too much scaffolding in the area for an unmoving crowd to park at some tables.

I was thinking of going, but had two friends there that said it was insanely crowded and they couldn't get to most tables.

I did eventually weasel my way up to a few of the tables and ended up purchasing a couple items for myself and family members, so the day was not a total failure :)

There were only a few tables that were truly difficult to get to (IMO, and I was there from 9:30 to 3 on and off). The Beetlejuice, Dear Evan Hansen, and Phantom tables were absolutely insane. Everything else was doable.
I'm glad a couple people were able to snag the RENT playbills. How much were they? I had scoped out a Company sign I needed to get right at opening so I didn't try to get one of the rent playbills.
I feel it’s always crowded at certain tables every year especially when the flea market opens at 10am.
So I think I arrived too late but did Dear Evan Hansen sell any of their used casts with CONNOR written on it? They normally sell them each year but I didn’t see any at their table yesterday (then again I may have arrived too late.)

Yes they did! Curtain call and Dear Evan Hansen both had them for sale at 10 am, from Andrew Barth Feldman, Michael Lee Brown, and I assume the other Evans after. I got Michael Lee Brown's signed by Alex Boniello for $30, and they were all going quick. At the end they gave everything away for free apparently, so somebody may have ran with the box of casts, bc apparently somebody ran with the box of nameplates and t-shirts.
Also, I can't ping the message earlier but the one that thought I was lying about the bands visit set piece... I sent the message from my apartment, and it was gone by the time I came back for round two of shopping the flea. It wasn't even at curtain call, it was closer to the other side. of the alley. I don't think I imagined this massive item, but it definitely sold before I sent the message so that was my mistake.

This was my third visit to the Flea Market. I only did one loop, but managed to buy a Simba toy for my grand niece, picked up some plastic tumblers, got a colorful hat and won 2 tickets to The Lion King.
Most fun was meeting Lucy St. Louis, AKA Christine Daae in Phantom’s West End production. Not knowing who she was, other than a striking woman getting her picture taken in front of Phantom on Broadway…during the craziness of the Flea Market, I struck up a conversation, and she couldn’t have been nicer!

Thanks for the info - I wonder how much the Carrie window card sold for. Are window cards commonly seen? Or rare in general?
Are souvenir programs usually amongst the items for sale - those big, 30 page glossy programs with cast photos and bios and BTS stuff from the composer/designer? Or is it usually just Playbills?
Sorry to hear there was some shoving. I hate that.
What items did the Phantom table have? I heard they sometimes sell off pillows from the boat to raise money, but not ties! That's new. I've always wanted to see the Phantom table in particular, since the show has been going so long. I can't imagine how they always found stuff to contribute, given the show never closed (and hopefully won't now either - fingers crossed that closing date is reversed.)

Can confirm, it was at the SDC table. I saw it at maybe 11:30-11:45.

Souvenir programs are usually for sale! A lot of tables had them, some signed, some unsigned.
When I stopped by the Phantom table, they had shirts, I think Phantom worn bowties? or Raoul? I wasn't quite sure. Someone near me bought a pair of shoes but I'm also not sure who they were from. They also had Phantom phone phone chargers? Speakers? I think. It was kind of hard to tell. Also programmes, Il Muto programs, the sheet music Christine uses onstage, 25th anniversary playbills...I'm trying but I can't remember what else, sorry!

No, not at all - I appreciate you sharing even that :)
Where is a good place to get old souvenir programs from shows in NYC, other than the Theatre Circle store (which seems to be one of the few places still around...)

I've heard of people getting them at vintage stores, garage sales, places like that but that hasn't really happened recently...your best bet is Flea, honestly.

Drat. A few years ago it seemed like there were several Broadway-themed shops around NY. Guess they closed

Yeah...there was one by the Winter Garden that I liked (the one time I went in-HA) but it closed and has not reopened since the shut down. I hope the one next to the St. James doesn't go anywhere!
