I went to the Shubert box office tonight to inquire about a rush policy for BLITHE SPIRIT, and the man at the box office told me there would be no rush policy. He said there will only be standing room -- $21.50 -- only when the performance is sold out.

Ugh, that's disappointing. I'll have to pay more for this show then, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

These guys are tough...I mean, they changed the TDF seats to the balcony, and now no rush either. Makes me hope they wind up at the TKTS booth, although that may sound mean! I'd just like to be able to afford to see this...
Meh, how annoying of them. Discount ticket it is.
Well i'm glad I bought tix in advanced! How is front row Balcony?

The last few rows of the balcony are $31.50 or $36.50, depending on what performance you attend.

I guess we won't know how well the balcony view is until performances start. I'm not dying to see this like I am some of the other shows, so I'll wait till I hear back from people.
The Shubert Theatre rarely (if ever) does rush. Last few shows that have been there were SRO.
Balcony there...is not great, in my opinion. Front row balcony might be alright, but for a play I would go with mezz if you can.
^Didn't they do rush when Chicago was there? My brain may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe I saw the show there and that I did general rush (front row seats - very nice!).

So if this show isn't a sell-out, then we can't get SRO, right? I hope it sells well!
They sold SRO when Spamalot wasn't sold out, so who knows.

I just checked Telecharge.com and it said Blithe Spirit will have student rush.

But the ? now is where will they be? Orc, Mezz Balcony?

Wow that's good news! Hopefully they'll just be whatever's available for that performance.

coolkid- depends if you have a strong desire to be babied.
I sat front row center of the balcony for Spamalot, and that was just fine. However, that was a big musical, so I don't know how it will be for a play. As for sightlines, in general, it's a pretty good seat.
Wow. I had a feeling the guy at the box office was playing me yesterday.
I'm glad they will have rush. I imagine the seats will be partial view Orchestra, unfortunately. I sat there for SPAMALOT, and paid full price for them. They're going to have to fill them somehow. I hope I'm wrong and they are full view seats.

Why do box office people always (ok, not always, just often) feel compelled to be douche bags? Is it in their contracts? Is there a screening process, to rule out nice people? Is there douchebag bootcamp for them?
Haven't we learned by now? Pretty much every show eventually develops some sort of student rush policy, and box office people insist that there will be no such policy until the specifics are decided on by the producers.
Now if only I didn't already buy that TDF ticket...
WannaBe, he told me there would be no rush as well, and I think I asked twice (once just last weekend). He seemed pretty sure of that and he was very nice when I asked him about the standing room (I'm short, so I always have to make sure I'll be able to see). I guess they just changed their minds. I'd hardly call the box office guy a douchebag.
The link to telecharge.com doesn't show any information about a student rush...did it disappear?
Wow. They deleted it. It was there last night.
Guess they changed their minds. They'll come around. If even SOUTH PACIFIC has a rush, BLITHE SPIRIT will. Eventually.
