I think Reeve is a great singer, but he may need to take a little vacation. Your voice would probably be cracking too if you had to sing in rehearsals all day and then continue singing at night during a performance.
I think Reeve's voice is sexy as hell so I have no complaints.
"I'm a 65 million dollar circus tragedy"...this MUST be intentionally self-referential???
@CATSNYrevival --- Took the words right out of my mouth. LOVE Reeve Carney's voice!
 LOVE Reeve Carney's voice!

65 million dollar circus tragedy was totally self-referential. "Boy Falls From the Sky" was just a coincidence.

Calling Douglas Carter Beane! This show could work if it just made fun of itself throughout the whole thing.

At least we'd be laughing with them and not at them.

I think the new promo looks really good and I think "Freak Like Me" sounds good and enjoyable in all it's camp-ness , but don't know about the staging. Didn't they say it was being re-staged? Is that the new staging?

Also wasn't Reeve running on a tread mill during "Boy Falls from the Sky" 1.0, which I thought was really cool looking when he was signing the end of that song. Or was that a different song I was thinking about?

Kinda want to see 2.0 now.

I don't know what desirable qualities you can find in Reeve Carney's singing. After watching that video a few more times along with the previously posted interview, I think that his speaking voice is voice, but when he sings, it's so poorly produced and raspy. It has nothing to do with being in rehearsal all day and then singing the role at night--it's all about how he's not using proper technique. I know that these days, technique is not all that revered in popular music, but it's really important because his voice just sounds strained when he's singing. It's nothing that couldn't be fixed, but his singing is not quite up to par.

The nasal sound in his speech has a remedy as well.
I thought his voice was awful too.

Didn't at first, but I LOVE Freak Like Me now. All irreverant camp and color. It's a fun song with a catchy as hell chorus, clearly written as a wink to the tourist crowd.

Reeve has a fine voice, but every time I hear him in this play, his consonants sound too thick. Pretty sure that comes from months of rehearsals begging him to "ENUNCIATE!"

I too was not a fan of Carney's voice at all, especially with playing Peter Parker. His timbre is not at all related to the personality of Parker and it's just awkward. Also, what the hell is with that Goblin number?
The music is even worse than I remembered. Also, I would be happy if I never heard Reeve Carney's voice again - though I wouldn't mind wrapping my legs around his neck.

What a waste of $80 million dollars.

Question about the montage: What was going on with Arachne and Peter floating up into the web? Was THAT Turn Off The Dark??

Yes ^
Reeve has a rock voice and a great one, its not a trained musical theatre voice (thank god) and thats why it works for this show.
I think Reeve Carney possesses a fine rock voice. And although Patrick Page sings quite well, wow, nothing screams "WE'RE IN A BIG, BLOATED FLOP!" quite like "Freak Like Me." Lordy, Embarrassing. It reminds of bomb production numbers from decades past.
