I can't believe Birdie has never been revived. But Roundabout SHOULD NOT be doing it. How about a Urinetown revival? THAT should reopen the Henry Miller, seeing as the show was basically taken down exclusively because of its closing.

John Heilpern is going to have a fit if BYE BYE BIRDIE is revived by a non-profit institution. And I agree.

I am so GLAD the Doyle MERRILY is not transferring. It was with the instruments, and people are tired of that. And I think after ROAD SHOW, people are tired of his Sondheim in a box staging. Though I enjoyed the ROAD SHOW staging.

Plus I MUCH rather hear Tunick's orchestrations.

i want a modern "Birdie" with either a Justin Timberlake-esque Conrad or a hip-hop Conrad (or Marc Kudisch back in gold spandex pants is fine with me).

Take a poll. I am sure more people would rather have a traditional revival of MERRILY than the same old Doyle instrument staging.

Wouldn't it be grand to see Eric McCormack play Albert in BIRDIE? Nick Spangler would make a fine Hugo.

Nice casting, Dolly. I can take or leave Spangler, but I think McCormack would be great as Albert.

Mary Faber for Kim, if they aren't casting age-appropriately?

Count me among the people standing in the corner wearing a "Come Look at the Freaks" t-shirt, still holding out for SIDE SHOW.

I'd like to see Birdie become a Roundabout success a la The Pajama Game.

I would prefer to get a really nice Merrily though and if they can pull that off, I'd be happy to see it back!

From what I understand, Side Show is not happening, unfortunately.

That said, I am thrilled about the possibility of both of these shows! I love the idea of Birdie at the new Henry Miller. It's a fun, classic show that is long overdue for a revival.

Not to be mean or anything...but Birdie is due for a revival. Not Side Show, or Urinetown.

There are shows that need to be seen. And we fill our theatres with shows that were on Broadway 5 years before (Gypsy? loved it but, all it had was Lupone until the Tonys) and Guys and Dolls (some say the best musical ever written, but every decade...please)

I just heard from a reliable source that BIRDIE at the Henry Miller is a go, MERRILY is still a maybe, and ANYTHING GOES isn't happening anymore.

They really need to tap Andrea Burns for BIRDIE,
The right age, the right sexiness, the right talent, and the right point in her theatrical history for this role.
She's perfection.

oh, and I may get hell for this, but I think Allie Trimm would make a great Kim in Birdie
