THE SEAFARER | DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! | THE HOMECOMING
IS HE DEAD? | A CHORUS LINE | MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT
THE SEAFARER : This work by the author of the Olivier Award-winning The Weir and the Tony Award-nominated Shining City is a chilling new play about the sea, Ireland, and the power of myth. It takes place on Christmas Eve and revolves around Sharky who has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother who has recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards; however, the arrival of a stranger from the distant past raises the stakes ever higher.
CURTAINS: With a cast of 28 headed by Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce, this Broadway musical comedy "whodunit" from the creators of "Cabaret" and "Chicago" was nominated for 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Curtains unfolds backstage at Boston’s Colonial Theatre in 1959 where the talent-free leading lady of a new musical dies on opening night and a stage-struck detective (David Hyde Pierce) conducting an investigation finds unexpected romance while solving the murder.
"A gust of giddy fun...Hummable tunes from the legendary team of Kander and Ebb...laugh-out-loud lines and adorable characters. The cast is fantastic." - The Daily News
LES MISERABLES : One of the most beloved musicals of all-time has returned to Broadway with an all-new production. This lavish musical is based on Victor Hugo's epic novel, in which the relentless policeman Javert pursues escaped convict Jean Valjean over decades through the tumult of revolutionary France. Valjean becomes a mayor, agrees to raise the daughter of dying prostitute, and joins the fight for freedom.
THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION : This new Broadway play by Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, "The West Wing") concerns the begining of television and the bitter legal battle between the young genius Philo T. Farnsworth, who invented it in 1927 when he was a high school student, and the head of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) who, with legal and corporate force behind him, wrestles for his place in history to claim the glory instead. Hank Azaria (Spamalot) stars as the RCA magnate and Jimmi Simpson as the rightful patent owner. Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Big River, The Who's Tommy) directs.
RENT: A Broadway legend, Rent is Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical retelling of the La Bohme story, relocated to AIDS-era East Village, New York.
"Larson's talent has taken the audience to places where the musical never ventures these days. Go see this musical..." -The New Yorker
"A raw and riveting milestone in musical theater." - Rolling Stone Magazine
AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY : Comes to Broadway directly from its critically acclaimed engagement at Chicago's Tony Award-winning Steppenwolf Theatre Company. This new American drama by Pulitzer Prize finalist Tracy Letts (Bug, Killer Joe) portrays the Weston clan who must return to their three-story home in rural Oklahoma when their patriarch vanishes, to get to the heart of the matter. With rich insight and biting humor, Letts paints a vivid portrait of a Midwestern family at a turning point.
"A deep and highly entertaining work, consistently rich, raw and intense, filled with viciousness and vicious wit." -Variety
MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT: Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT is a musical comedy directed by Mike Nichols, with book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score created by Eric Idle and John Du Prez. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical , this musical tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and french people. The New Yorker says Monty Python's SPAMALOT is "a no-holds-barred smash hit."
DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! : Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas is back on Broadway this year! Don't miss the critically acclaimed production that set Broadway attendance records last holiday season.Featuring the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated series, this beloved tale is brought to life on stage by a creative team that includes 3-time Tony Award winning director Jack O'Brien.
THE HOMECOMING : This 40th Anniversary revival of Harold Pinter's Tony Award-winning masterpiece features an all-star cast including Golden Globe Award-winner Ian McShane (Deadwood), two-time Tony Award-nominee Ral Esparza (Company, Taboo) and Michael McKean (Hairspray, The Pajama Game). Undoubtedly Pinter's most sexually provocative work, The Homecoming is an edgy and compelling tale of lust, betrayal and seduction, telling the story of a dysfunctional family that welcomes the homecoming of its estranged brother and competes for the attention of his dangerously alluring wife. Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan (Rabbit Hole, Proof) directs.
IS HE DEAD? : In this newly discovered Mark Twain comedy, the original master of American humor dishes out a sly critique of the art world with acerbic wit and social commentary well ahead of his time. Is He Dead? is a fast-paced play about a struggling artist who stages his own death to drive up the price of his paintings. As the riotous scheme unfolds, Twain poses daring questions about fame, greed and the value of art, and pokes his signature, mischievous fun at everyone involved. It is adapted by David Ives (All in the Timing), directed by two-time Tony Award winner Michael Blakemore (Noises Off) and stars Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.)
A CHORUS LINE : A Chorus Line, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, dazzled more than 6 million people during its record-breaking 15-year run on Broadway. A modern classic, A Chorus Line chronicles the joy, despair and triumph of 17 dancers as they audition for an 8-member Broadway chorus.
