Bailey Hanks to star in High School Musical at Paper Mill Playhouse

Hey everyone, Broadwayworld.com just annouced that Bailey will be playing Sharpay in High School Musical at the Papermill Playhouse. If anyone would like to see her in this show I suggest you get tickets now. All the shows are pretty much sold out!

Yea same here...Im taking my brother on the 7th of november for his birthday....but its gonna be hard for the people who want to go now because of Bailey, almost all the shows are sold out and whats left isn't very good.

I've never seen the staged musical? Is the score still ridiculously sustained on high notes for the male leads? Or did they transpose it down? I know high tenors who have trouble singing along to the movie...But maybe that's just them.

Anyone seen this production yet? Any reviews?

--> I saw the show on Friday night and thought it was done very well. I found the stage version to be a little different from the movie. There were a few lyric changes in some songs but I'm not sure if they lowered the keys in any of the songs. The male lead was very good and he didn't seem to be having trouble with the score at all. There were a few spots in the show where the cast came into the aisles and all the kids loved that. Overall, I thought all the male leads were stronger then their female counter parts. As for Bailey, she was good but it was like watching her version of Elle Woods play Sharpay. There were a few times where I felt she slipped back into Elle a little bit. I guess that’s all I have to say about the show. If anyone has any questions about it I will be happy to answer them.

I'm seeing it next Saturday matinee, and trying to plan the day around it.

In the program, did it say anything about Krystal Joy Brown doing a national tour of rent. I saw her as Mimi and she was great!! I was wondering if it was her!!!!

AdamGreer --> The show runs about 2 and a half hours. We went to an 8pm show and were in are cars by 10:30. So I would say more like 2 hours and 20minutes.

AndAllThatJazz22 --> Yes it did mention that Krystal Joy Brown was Mimi on tour. She was fantastic as Taylor. I know I said earlier that the males were stronger then their female counterparts but in this case Krystal was much much better then the actor who played Chad.

Yes those are the sets from the National Tour. I don't know if they rented them or bought them. It may have been a deal with the touring company that Paper Mill had to use their sets. I'm not really sure. Though using the set pieces from the tour it probably cut down a lot of the budget that was set for this production, which is good seeing as how the Paper Mill still isn't all that financially stable yet.

They probably rented them because High School Musical 2 is about begin touring. Thanks for the pics of Bailey! Where did you find them?

I highly doubt that HSM2 is using the same sets considering the opening number is the only time they're at school. The rest of the show is spent at the Lava Springs Resort.

I know. I meant that HSM is done touring because HSM2 is touring. The probably rent those sets now. Because otherwise, the high schools that performed it months ago would have used these considering that they all get the rights and stuff from MTI. I don't know about sets, though.

I'm going up there to see him not this weekend, but next weekend. I'm so excited!

Photos look great - I'm not surprised she's a bit one-note. It was NOT a good idea to put her in pink, however. I still think this is a better fit for her than Elle probably was.
