He will be great in the part!!
I just can't see this doing well.
im more intrigued to see how it will do than i am intrigued to actually see it, and that's almost ALWAYS a bad sign.

I can see it doing well.... Its a great show with beautiful music and characters you care about.. The story takes you on an emotional journey.. It has everything I wanted in a show!
Just checked the profile. Shillllll.
It is a very mediocre show. A lot of crap treads the boards these days.
I'm excited that a student who comes to my acting club will be in this production! I'd like to think I may have actually taught him a little something that will help him in the show. Hope he can get me free tickets...
I'm sure plenty of us will be getting free tickets to this.
Didn't people NOT like The Pirate Queen in Chicago? That was the reason they revamped the darn thing, but people seemed to love A Tale of Two Cities in Florida.
Yes...but it did try out in FLORIDA. (Maybe I'm completely off--I just don't recall many things tryingout down there). And I also thought the Pirate Queen wasn't doing too good business in Chicago.
I'm optimistic. I will see it. But I do know it's going to get mixed reviews (and probably some really bad ones), just because of what it is.
Jane Eyre tried out in Kansas...

Yes they were a big hit in Florida!!

I don't know how much was changed between November and now but what was shown in Florida was very good.
I wouldn't go by a Florida audience.
There's a reason FARK has its own Florida tag.
Florida would be happy to get ANYTHING.
Their audiences/critics (are there theatre critics in Florida?) aren't a fair judge of the type of reception the show is going to get in NY.
Ever since the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre closed.
I can see the front page of the POST right now:
THE BEAST of BROADWAY returns.
The old adage "any publicity is good publicity" will be put to the test on this one.
The TONY sweep talk is way pre-mature, you heard of a little show called BILLY ELLIOT?
Who is considered the lead actress in TALE?
"Who is considered the lead actress in TALE?"
You know it's hard to say. Lucie might be considered the lead but much of the plot happens because of Mme DeFarge.
Sydney is definitely the male lead and Lucie is the woman he loves so I would think she would be the lead. But DeFarge has more to do and is a richer character.
Lets not forget. People also loved CRY BABY out of town...
I love how they quote "Audience Member", especially the one who thought it was a "true story". Then, after actually attaching names to the quotes they end with one from "Anonymous". Now THAT is smart marketing.
Note the one who actually claims, "I laughed. I cried. It was better than CATS!"
What the "audience" thought
I'm sure that i'm not in a huge majority here, but I actually think that the Barbour issue will have brought me in to see the show when I otherwise might not have been interested. I think hearing that so few other performers could do the role as well as him gave me a good reason to go see it.
I know sex-crimes are a sensitive issue, but I don't think James Barbour is the kind of 'monster' some of you make him out to be either just because he accepted a bj from (an ambitious..) girl a couple years too young. ok thats all im saying
goodnight
I was just going to say that but KQuill beat me too it. There's been so much publicity about Barbour, it adds a whole level of real life drama that people love to hear about...I can only see it helping the show sell tickets.
