Be more chill predictions

Wanted to create a thread on the grosses of Be more chill. Predictions and opinions are welcome, I think it will do great in its first few months but with jagged little pill and moulin rouge coming will it get lost?

Oh good lord. I’m already sick of this show and it’s fans and it’s only been in previews a couple of days.

I don’t think this thread is pointless and if your sick of the show and it’s fans then don’t read anything that has be more chill in the title. I am a fan of the show and wanted to create a thread that would be positive and filled With opinions and thoughts on the show. You both are just spreading negativity and it’s honestly annoying

If you can’t take criticism on a pointless thread, this place ain't for you.

We have a grosses thread every monday, you can disucss it there. We will not be coming here to only discuss be more chill and their grosses every week.

I really liked the show when I saw it Off-Broadway, but I agree this thread is unnecessary, or at least incorrectly titled. Change the name to "BE MORE CHILL Fan Thread," or something like that, and you'll get a lot fewer negative comments.

First of all I have been reading these message boards for years so yeah I know you guys have a grossss thread. Second I created a thread for Be more chill because I like this show and want to discuss it with fellow fans and message board people. I can take criticism but not when it’s the first thing I see or when all I’m seeing is this thread is pointless or saying how sick you are of the show. Your not being very welcoming to a first time user and not representing the broadway message boards very well. And you don’t have to come here and discuses Be more chill and if you really think this is a pointless thread than why are you even on here and wasting your time.

This will be long gone way before jagged little pill and moulin rouge. It'll close right after the Tony's, if it even sticks it out that long, which it really shouldn't.

Oh I agree, I see a labor day closing. They won’t pick up many tony noms, but if they can get a best musical nom it could give them a few more weeks.

Also, if you decide to stick around, please learn the difference between your and you're.  It's pretty simple -- you are = you're.

I personally think Be more chill going to Broadway was never my fist choice. I think it should have had a limited run on broadway during the summer and gone on tour after. The Shows core audience can’t afford the price of a broadway ticket but If on tour they could. I think the discounted tickets can only last for so long but again anything can happen.

Not sure what you think the overlap is there? A woke musical based on a 1995 album or a pastiche musical based on a 2001 movie compete with a new teen sci-fi musical how exactly?

Unfortunately, I don’t see this sticking around more than a year. However, based on all the buzz I’ve read, I do think producers should try to move this back Off Broadway when it’s done on Broadway as it’s already been proven Off Broadway.

Targeting a show to kids or teens on Broadway is tricky. You basically have to bank on the kids convincing their parents to fund their tickets as well as make the show adult friendly enough that adults will enjoy it on their own too. Disney seems to have figured this out in recent years. I don’t think Be More Chill will unfortunately.

The difference is: Disney markets to the family. This show doesnt have that appeal.

I dont pretend to know how this will fare...but, so far, it doesnt seem promising. But its early.

The difference is that Disney targets to the PARENTS through family friendly productions and the good old nostalgia factor. The parents in turn are the decision makers as they are the ones that have the money and they will buy the tickets to expose their children to it of their own choice and own free will.

Be More Chill is targeting to the TEENS that then have to beg and plead with the parents to drop $130+ a seat, plus travel costs, to go see a show that they (the parents) have no interest or connection it at all. The production is not family friendly. One of the first opening lyrics is about porn. That's a great opener for parents sitting next to their kids. The parents are not going to have a family experience here. They are going to please their kid that won't let it go. 

THAT is the difference.
