WOW! So truth doesn't matter huh? I will have to remember that every time you post. Let me guess; You voted for Trump?

I sure hope you've never told anyone you enjoyed their cooking or had a nice time when in fact, you did not. Cause that would make you as bad as Trump. Whether people will be able to afford healthcare... it matters. Whether someone made up or embellished a story about Bernadette Peters rehearsing? eh, not so much.

Point well taken. You are right.
If what you’re saying is accurate (and I have no idea if it is or isn’t) it wasn’t the dress rehearsal.
I mean the dress rehearsal is likely scheduled for tonight, surely?
I don't know about last night, but I also stopped by the box office late Wednesday to pick up tickets and they were rehearsing the title number in the theatre. I can attest that Peters sounded terrific.

I imagine so. qolbinau; when are you going? I know you are a big fan of hers and I am thrilled for you. I now have to wait 3 weeks.
I'll be at the first performance tomorrow night (I've come to town especially to see it). I am very excited - it's Christmas Eve tonight. I've also seen the show with Bette too so will try to compare the experiences, though I doubt I will be able to remain completely impartial.
The theatre looks gorgeous:

Nice! It is such a great theater for this show. I am looking forward to your thoughts.
I hope Jesse Tyler Ferguson does a live reading of this thread.

As someone who has seen every great lady who has played Dolly on Broadway, let me offer this advice: Don't go into the show ready to compare Bernadette to anyone else. Just enjoy the show and her performance.
Have a great time. I'll be there.

She doesn't really look like herself, does she?
Here's a bigger version.

After reading the OP, it made me wishful that we might see a new DOLLY cast recording with Peters especially since I wasn't that fond of Midler's performance on disc.It sure would be great if they repeated what they did with Brooke Shields when she replaced Tuesday's DOLLY in WONDERFUL TOWN which featured Shields along with the new cast replacements. I'd even settle for a mini disc release like they did with a number of actresses who played Norma Desmond. Or Nick Jonas in HOW TO SUCCEED.... and the list goes on. .
Hello, Bernadette!

I think the idea here is she is meant to look like Dolly Levi?
And I thought she'd be in a baggy sweater and jeans.
Thanks for the insight.

devonian.t. I agree with you. Not sure why the others are stating something different. I hope that is just a bad angle. If it isn't, she has made some questionable choices....and I will leave at that.

I don’t understand. By ‘questionable choices’ are you suggesting she has had a new dose of surgery? Even if she has - that is what Bernadette has looked like for 10 years now in my opinion. When she smiles her face has always scrunched up in a similar way. Not sure what the issue is.

Don't know if it is new or not. Although I am a fan of hers.....I'm not obsessed with her. So not sure what she looked like yesterday, much less 10 years ago. Like I already stated. The picture might be a bad angle.
So here is an example of a candid shot from Follies (Curtain call). In qolbinau's eyes, her face is scrunching/looking similar to the Dolly shot. I do concede it's a facial expression/angle that wouldn't be typically captured and printed though:
