"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

I have to say "Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat" for no other reason but the fact that I am rehearsing for Nicely right now, and I LOVE the song, and the role!

Not every show has an 11 O'Clock number. For example, Sweeney Todd.
One of the best is Brotherhood of Man.

Rose's Turn is #1 in my book
but If he walked into my life from Mame is another good choice.

So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

Because I was there to experience it-- "Once Before I Go" from THE BOY FROM OZ.
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

Rose's Turn in GYPSY is what every show wishes their 11 0'Clock Number had in terms of impact. Other great ones are:
Ladies Who Lunch
Miller's Son
Be On Your Own
No Good Deed
Losing My Mind
Last Midnight
Gimme Gimme
Moving On
and What I Did for Love

Personally, barring a few others, the epitimy of 11 o'clockers is "Why Do the Wrong People Travel?" from Sail Away. SO Coward; SO Stritch; SOOOOO WONDERFUL!!!!

Can "Memory" from CATS be counted as one?

Memory? Absolutely.
But NO GOOD DEED and LAST MIDNIGHT come way too early in their respective shows to be considered the 11 o'clock number.

No Good Deed comes to early?
Act II is too short - NGD, the March, then For Good, then Finale.
NGD is in the right spot - it is the size of the act that has the problem.
Can I say I KNOW WHERE I'VE BEEN even though it has been criticised again!! I love that song and I love Mary Bond Davis

You can't fault the act for being too short. It is what it is.
So...really...'For Good' would be the 11 o'clock number.

Last Midnight doesn't come too late in the show. There's only about fifteen minutes after that song in the show. Two numbers and the finale. If Last Midnight isn't considered one, than I guess NO one is Alone is the 11' o'clock number from Into the Woods.
