Annaleigh Ashford
Oh please.
I suppose Merman put more asses in the seats than any other star (excluding the British marathons in which the show is the star). 13 hit shows is pretty impressive. Plus, she was a star from the night "Girl Crazy" opened to the day she died.
An impressive record.

I hesitated to chime in on this thread, because as I've stated so many times before, there is only one:

Everyone else in these posts needs to pull their heads out of their asses and get with the picture. Seriously Melanie Griffith????? Ethel Merman is the Queen of broadway, hands down, no questions asked! You find me somebody who has been in more than 13 broadway shows, introduced more than 25 songs on the broadway and Americana music. I highly doubt it is Patti LuPone. Merman may have not been the prettiest face on broadway but her voice was enough to hid that fact.
Runner up to Merman would have to be Mary Martin. Then for men it would be Alfred Drake and Robert Preston.
Thank You
Christmas Carols bring tears to my eyes, I also cry at weddings....I should have cried at a couple of my own~ Ethel Merman
I hate to be the one to spout the obvious, madam, but this is kind of a joke thread, and shouldn't be taken seriously.
I mean, hello- Star Jones? Bob Saget? The Chandelier?

Give me a break!!! Its all a matter of opinion.....personally .. I dont like Ethel Merman
Nathan Lane
But in my eyes, anyone who can actually say they have been on a Broadway stage "IN" a show is a star

Personally, you dont have to like the lady but atleast give her your respect. As well as some other stars, she paid her dues.

So many of you have not had the pleasure of seeing the really fantastic STARS. You can make this a joke thread, but get serious.
