Best Group numbers to sing?
#0Best Group numbers to sing?
Posted: 1/29/04 at 6:07pmI am in my schools concert choir and we are planning on singing broadway for our spring concert. Yes i know that nothing is anywhere near as good as the real thing but we have a very good choir. What are good group numbers to sing? I kno a lot of them if taken out of context aren't so great to do. Any suggestions? We could use all the help we can get before our teacher picks some corny medley that is going to shame both our choir and broadway!!

Posted: 1/29/04 at 7:15pmMy Fair Lady is a good one, as is Guys and Dolls. Actually, many oldies are good. Just don't pick too many ballads.

too many ballads will kill a show, and everybody always wants to do ballads. Anyone in here ever in a show choir that did a Cabaret show? That was always our problem.
Now on another note, I FINALLY SEE THE SMURFS! I AM SO EXCITED! I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR A COUPLE DAYS NOW!!!!!!!!! Shake it, Shake, Shake it! Shake it like a polaroid picture!

Posted: 1/29/04 at 8:32pmI love The Music Man... What about Iowa Stubborn? HAHA! Just kidding. Did you say it had to be upbeat? If not, then what about The Ballad of Sweeney Todd? I love that one.

Magic to Do from Pippin is a really good song for a choir.
I don't think you should do Seasons of Love because it's getting kind of played out (this coming from a huge RENThead).

Also, Lullaby of Broadway from 42nd Street. You get in solos and group singing.

What about the classics? Personally I think you should do any of these:
Wanna Be- The Spice Girls
Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen
Step By Step- New Kids On The Block
Let Me Sleep On It- Meatloaf (with solo room!)

The last group number I performed was either "Ninty-Nine Bottles Of Beer on the Wall" or "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
Can't remember which or when, but it was in 1967.

Posted: 1/30/04 at 11:16amWell Avenue Q has some great songs....they could always sing "For Now." The lyrics aren't as offensive as "It Sucks To Be Me."
