Lunt-Fontanne - Winter Temporary Tenant?

Purely posting this out of curiosity, not with any inside intel to share - but anyone hear buzz on a possible winter tenant for the Lunt? Considering Warriors doesn't start until March, that's quite a long time for one of Nederlander's premium venues to be dark unless they're doing some refresh + refurbishment in advance of the spring.

I thought maybe they’d bring “Elf” back? Its proved a popular returning show in The UK and we don’t really have any holiday shows planned for the tourists this year.

It was also a sellout smash at the Marquis the last go around when Grey Henson was Buddy (and he was actually magnificent). That was 2024 when the tax incentive was still active though.

The problem at this point, though, is who is going to want to pony up for such a short run of any musical that isn’t already up and moving? The only show I can think of for a space that big would be THE WIZ, but that is already booked on tour through that period.

I can see a concert engagement or two, but CELEBRITY AUTOBIOGRAPHY proved that a celebrity stroke-fest won’t always sell tickets

Just an FYI, the amateur rights to Elf aren't available this year, so still a longshot of it's too be announced at this point.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Elf also has annually had a non equity tour happen [even during the same season as the Broadway revival in 2024]. There's dates already announced beginning on - Halloween - of all days.

I would LOVE for the 2024 verison of Elf to return - it was the best version of the show I've seen and Grey Henson was such a joy.

Yes, the non-equity tour seems to be sticking on certain areas of the US. 2024 was in the Northeast, 2025 was Midwest and now 2026 is West coast.

Would love to see “A Christmas Story, the Musical” back in Lunt-Fontanne for a winter season run.

Agreed. It was so fabulous and Grey was just marvelous! I hope they bring it back.

I have not heard a single thing…and unlike Paddington I don’t think that would even be possible considering Warriors is gonna be a massive show

I’ve heard a rumor that a now-closed downtown show might be launching a holiday production at the Lunt. It seems like an odd fit to me, but I guess we’ll see.

A press release just went out announcing the Blue Man Group will be doing a show here from 11/12-1/3

Curious what kind of contracts the show uses.

Wasn't expecting that but this should sell well.

This was indeed the rumor I heard. Wasn’t expecting it to be confirmed so soon!

Blue Man on Broadway?! This truly will be a wonderful Christmas.

(As long as they don't go nuts with pricing.)

I know that when the show was off Broadway, the creators had said (and equity agreed) ‘that they don’t fall under the auspices of equity because it was more performance art than a traditional show and also because there was no dialogue as well. However, now that equity has altered how one can become a member, this could change things. I mean, seeing as how equity is allowing strippers to join then maybe the requirement for Blue Man to be able to join as well could change.
