This is my favorite response to my thread so far! No one ever said posting on BWW was a cakewalk, right? :)

When a woman reaches a certain age, she does not necessarily wish to have the word birthday plastered on a huge slab of Cake.

You mean the one where bishops argued over whether Jesus was "born" or "begotten," and whether he was of the same substance as the father or only of essentially the same substance? Believe me, this thread has way more import than that nonsense.

Posted: 12/5/17 at 11:03amWell you’re mixing the analogy. I was comparing the consequence of the boards in totality, not the thread itself, and therefore certainly not the substance of the thread. I completely agree that this Cakegate discussion is far more important than most everything, but I stand by my assertion that this forum’s lack of consequence provides the space for it, and that yes, the council of nicea was a more consequential forum. I hope that isn’t controversial. I suppose maybe we should see how many witch burnings (estimates ok) result from the cakastrophy before we vote.

If it wasn't clear that cake was for filmed and photographed PR, so it needed a logo. Im sure the cast got the "real" cake. Plus, that's easily a $500+ cake. Did you see all the fondant? It's probably a future episode of Cake Boss. Also in many of the photos the front of the cake being photographed has a beading issue. The beading along the edge has a gap. Someone will be fired.

I must admit I found the video weird because of the social media blackout Rudin's imposed on the cast, I've never seen them interact outside of the show. It's like they're not even allowed to post pictures of the cast backstage together. So it was odd to see Bette get a birthday cake and her express warm words towards her cast.

She adores that cast and they are tight. I think partially bc there is a no camera/social media rule that allows Bette to relax. Frankly, I think all shows should enforce one. She said in her Tony speech that she tended to be a loner in her career and it seems like this ensemble opened her up in new ways, mostly emotionally and she is very close to them.
